Thanks for the suggestion Drake01 but I used kaoru's solution here.

The problem is that pdaXii13 is missing three files for this to work.  The two spectrum24 firmware files and the firmware.alert file.  I grabbed the firmware files from a working Cacko setup.  The firmware files need to go under /etc/pcmcia/firmware/ and the firmware.alert file under /etc/hotplug/

You then need to edit the firmware.alert to the correct firmware dir which is /etc/pcmcia/firmware/ and then restart.

This way you will be using the hostap drivers instead of the older spectrum drivers and it will be bound to the proper wlan0 instead of eth0.

I would attach these to the thread but attachments are broken at the moment.  I have offered these to Meanie so, hopefully they willl be rolled into the next pdaXii13 release.
I think I'm coming down with what kahm's got!  I now have 3 Zaurii in house!  ;)

pdaXii13 Akita (Sally) build 5.3.3 is out.

Fixes/Updates for this release are:

- version script now reports correct edition of pdaXii13
- added xraise
- updated rotate script
- added firmware.agent hotplug script and also spectrum firmware
- updated hostap_cs.conf to recognie sandisk128 wifi card
- updated timezone mappings in datentime.py

Note that pdaXii13 Spitz (Alice) is still at build 5.3.2 and hence hdimage-full.tgz will be build 5.3.2

Meanie,

I am getting confused between the different pdaXii13 releases. Is there any reason that we all (SL-C3x00) should not just run this release? Those of us with a MD can put our swap file there and install files there. Otherwise, which is the correct and most current release for the 3100? Thanks.

C3100 and C3200 should be using pdaXii13 Akita plus hdimage-full.tgz from pdaXii13 Spitz

Since the pdaXii13 Akita image is much smaller (only 50MB) vs 200MB for hdimage-full.tgz, it is much faster to generate and upload. This is just the way things are. The hdimage-full.tgz needs more time to generate and upload...

Hope someone can please advise....more weirdness happening here....

Was running Sally v.5.3.3 on my 3200....

Overall, things seemed to be OK....until I tried using 'zgcc-3.4.6.squashfs' (can see my separate thread on this...)

Someone suggested going back to v.5.3.2 to get this to work....did that...but still no go....

Then, noticed that I get the following error messages during bootup:

Code: [Select]
Starting SD Services:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0, missing codepage, or too many mounted filesystems.

FATAL Error: privoxy not found

Seems like the first message relates to problem of using zgcc??

Other weird thing is that I thought I'd try using v.5.3.3 again, but when I re-downloaded file from

http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/pdaXii13/akita/

and re-flashed ROM, it shows that it's v.5.3.2 even though I'm downloading from page above and clicking on the 'initrd.bin' file link that says build 5.3.3.

So, need help with several things:

1) How to get rid of mount error message??

2) Where to get build 5.3.3 again?

3) Should I use build 5.3.3 or 5.3.2??

4) After ROM Install, it asks me if I want to 'migrate configuration to /etc on NAND, should I say 'Yes' or 'No'?? I said 'Yes'.

5) After Item 4 above, it asks me if I want to 'migrate home to /home on NAND, should I say 'Yes' or 'No'?? I said 'Yes'.

Thanks for any and all help!

Mark

I said yes on everything. It seems to work. BUT:
This time I flashed from sd

I resized my nand to 112-- I thought 121 was maybe causing problems. That was probably just me, though

My 3100 also thinks it is 5.3.2 now (thought it was 5.5.3 before, used the same image I think it has to do with the flash, not the taball image )

Installing new ipks i s weird--  They seem to have to go to /mnt/ide  and I have to append the path to use 'em

fixed the ipk thing--edited ipkg.conf, told it that ide was /media/fakeroot and that root was /media/fakeroot. Now even the gui works fine.

Your error message usually means you are trying to mount a corrupt squashfs on the loop device.

Squash a small text file or something simple and zsee whay happens when you do a mount -o loop mytextfile.squashfs /mnt/whatever_you_feel_like_calling_this

I bet it mounts fine, and you won't get the error

Got it thanks.
I'll back up my orig /home and /etc just in case.
I'm extracting the file now... At first I got a bunch of (I think, nonfatal) error messages about changing permissions to #0 ( I can't remember is it flew by fast) and for the rest of the files it's saying implausibly old timestamp 1969...
the last line was error exit delay from previous errors
Not sure if any of these are critical errors... but I'll try it out and see how it gos.

antikx;
When I did my first full hd install a coulpe days ago I got those messages.  the install went ok otherwise, or so it seemed.  it eventually turned out that I had problems with my image (entirely on my end--incomplete copy). You might consider doing a more thorough than usual sanity check after installation.

otoh, I just got a fresh 5.3.3 (initrd & hdimage-full & latest zgcc) installed. added a few packeges, started some compiling.  This setup is really, really nice

EDIT: ya, I must have goofed. they are pretty small.
