Is there any MODEM utility available for SL-5500?
« on: March 10, 2004, 01:03:31 am »
I got a CF modem for my SL-5500, but disappointed to find that when connected, there is nothing useful displayed. The IP address is wrong and very disappointed to find it doesn\'t display the modem connection speed. Is there any easy way to get the connection speed?
   Thanks.

I assume the connection speed could be obtained with an AT command before starting the chat script (but I\'m not sure try googling for AT commands). You could do this manually (in your /etc/ppp/peers file probably) and possibly spit it out to a file for later use, but it\'ll require some alterations the the code to get it displayed all the time.

You say the IP address is wrong, what do you mean? Have you set the ip address in network settings?

That\'s a known bug in all the latest Sharp ROMs I think. Don\'t know where it\'s getting the IP address it displays (may be a random number due to a bad pointer).
