It runs on my latpop, which probably means that it won't run on ARM CPUs. The Z also only barely meets the CPU requirement, and it is 64MB short in the RAM category, so it looks like this won't work.

Haven't tried, but wouldn't that be static for x86?  Does "statically compiled" cover multiple architectures?

A bunch of us on the Skype forum have been inquiring about the possibility of using a version of Skype on the Z for a while now. There's never been any reply from the admins ... see http://forum.skype.com/index.php?act=Searc...highlite=Zaurus for all the threads on the subject.

I've pretty much given up on it, now I'm trying to make speaQ work. It did install. It would be nice to get something working, on my trip to Florida I ran up $80 in cellphone roaming charges in airports where there was free wifi I could have used, and did use for email etc.

'Cause I didn't know about it. Is there a .ipk somewhere to play with, for CACkO 1.23 on the 860?

Edit: Found it on Sourceforge. I'll give it a try.

there's a vague hope that the Mylo version of Skype can be extracted (I happen to have, cough  , a backup of a mylo, but I cannot release it to anyone, sorry ), but so far I've not made much headway, and in fact I think I corrupted my Cacko 1.23 install.
