Planex Gw-cf54g

Hello folks,

I'm new here. I just a bought a Z SL-C3200 a few days ago, and I'm very happy with it. There's just one problem, that I cannot use the wireless LAN.
I bought the WLAN CF card that amazon suggested with the Zaurus, the Planex GW-CF54G (in fact I was thinking any card would work, so I did not worry about it - wrong as I realized later). The card does not work. It seems it needs some specific driver of some sort, I don't know and I'm not so knowledgeable about it.
What it says is:

product info: "Marvell", "802.11 CF", "ID: 04", ""
  manfid: 0x02df, 0x8103
  function: 6 (network)

I googled a bt for it but it seems there is really nothing out there ...
If someone knows how to make this card work on my Z, please let me know !
btw, I'm using the original Sharp ROM.

On a lighter note, the Planex CF-100TX2 (a CF Cable-LAN card) which I also bought, does work (when you install the cf-100tx2_1.0_arm.ipk package) ...

I assume you are using the SHARP ROM? My impression is that the Planex cards work pretty much across the board. What are you doing to try to get it to work?

The Planex 802.11b cards will work.  What you have is an 802.11g which as far as I know do not work with the Zaurus thanks to the uncooperative chipset manufacturers.
I think I'm coming down with what kahm's got!  I now have 3 Zaurii in house!  ;)

Thanks for the quick replies.
Is there any hope that one day / soon there will be support for this card ?
Or should I flip it and buy another one ? The problem is that there is not so much choice on Amazon. They basically just had my card and the Airport WN-G54/CF (does this one work? it has the b, but also the g ...)
Airport WN-G54/CF @ amazon
Maybe I can get lucky and find another one in some denki-store, but I'd also not be sure if it's compatible. Is there a list somewhere out there ?

See here: https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Wireless_Card_Support for some compatible cards. Note that some may only work with certain ROMs and that others not listed may be convinced to work on some ROMs. The list is a little out of date but should be sufficient. I personally have a Planex GW-CF11H card that works well (although I had to do a little tweaking to get it working under pdaXrom beta3).

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/102-0...=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go

The Ambicom WL1100C works fine with no tweaking, and it is on Amazon.

Thank you, but this is Amazon US, they only ship to US. I am in Japan right now, and will return to Europe in 3 weeks.
So can anyone confirm if this Airport WN-G54/CF works with the C3200 ?
Does anyone have further insight into the Planex GW-CF54G problem, when or how it could be solved ? I really like the design of the card, it does not stick out far from the Zaurus, it's a pity it's not working ...

ok, I just read here that the WN-G54/CF is not compatible with the Zaurus.
grr.
However on the same page they say the Planex GWCF54G (my card) might be compatible, which gives me a glimmer of hope ... however somebody will have to light that glimmer

I don't mean to dash your hopes, but I really wouldn't hold out until someone gets it to work. I've read a few threads about people really working on trying to get an 802.11g card working and all have failed as far as I know. Since you're in Japan you may be able to find a WiFi CF card in a store somewhere...or alternatively you could try conics which sells the Planex GW-CF11H card or a Buffalo CF WiFi card.

[EDIT]If I understand google's terribly translated comments from this site: http://linuxzaurus.seesaa.net/article/32100829.html it looks like the card is a no-go. Sorry.[/EDIT]
