kompany rom + 5600 help
« on: March 20, 2004, 05:21:37 pm »
I tried oz but unfortunately, a few programs won\'t work, irk mostly. so I thought I would try tkc, found the local mirror of the community site and downloaded the 1.1rc1 rom for the 5600.  When I flash and then reboot I get to the wait 5...4...3...2...1 then I get the loading screen and then it repeats the wait etc..  Does anyone have a working version of this, is there a working version of it.  Any help would be appreciated.

All of the ones on this site work for me, make sure you rename them properly and use the updater.sh that is with them.
https://www.oesf.org/commu...html?group_id=4

Installing theKompany.rom ROM

1.) Download the latest ROM Image, kernel and updater for your unit (initrd.bin, zImage and updater.sh). The files will have some numbers after the name (ex. initrd.bin-tkrom-x.x-slxx00, zImage-tkrom-x.x-slxx00 or updater.sh-slxx00).

2.) Rename the kernel, ROM image and updater files to initrd.bin, zImage and updater.sh

3.) Copy file to root of FAT formatted CF or SD card.

4.) Put CF or SD card into Zaurus.

5.) Plug the Zaurus into AC power.

6.) Flip switch on back of Zaurus to \"Replace battery\", remove the battery cover. Press the reset button with the stylus, put the battery cover back in place and flip switch to normal.

7.) While holding the \"OK\" button on the SL-5600, press \"On/Off\" button to turn on the SL-5600 in Maintenance Menu mode.

8.) Hit \"4. Update\" then choose CF or SD depending on what you chose to install from. The zaurus will reboot into Flash Linux where it will flash install the ROM image and kernel on the device.

9.) Where it says \"Please Restart\", hit the hard reset button in the battery compartment.

10.) Replace the battery cover and flip switch back to Normal operaton.

11.)While holding the \"OK\" button on the SL-5600, press \"On/Off\" button to turn on the SL-5600 in Maintenance Menu mode agian and got to format.

12.)Turn on the Zaurus and Follow On-screen instructions to configure the Zaurus. (NOTE: It takes a little while to boot up on the first boot as ssh keys are generated)
