sharp addressbook specs?
« on: March 22, 2004, 09:41:27 am »
I am trying to get rid of the Sharp addressbook. I managed to install opie-addressbook, but it does not read my data files in dtm format.
That would not be a problem, if I could manage to find the specs of DTM format. I did a search, and I found out that they were at http://www.zaurus.com/dev/support/index.html ; does anybody have a copy of that file?

ciao, .mau.

Yes, the Opie Addresbook (and tkc addresbook) doesn\' read the Sharp DTM formats. They all work on the older xml format. So no luck there trying to read Sharp\'s addressbook with Opie.

The DTM specs and header files  are here
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...download&sid=67

There is also one program which does conver the DTM data to xml data so you can move the Sharp addressbook data to opie - but that is a one time conversion. trying doing a search on these forums for that program discussion.

thank you very much!
I do not think to go back and forth between XML and DTM formats, so having a one-time conversion is not an issue.

I have a different issue.  I would like to transfer the old XML format PIM files over to the DTM format.  What is the best way to do this?

Someone posted a message about an app that converts xml to dtm and vice-versa - search the forums and you'll most likely find it

An DTM <-> XML converter is here: https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...?showtopic=7299

But it does not generate or consume the old XML PIM database format used in the SL5500 with ROM 2.38. You need at least ROM 3.10.
