Hello all,

I eventually have the chance to get a C860 from Japan.
My questions are:

1) Do I have to modify the keyboard somehow to work with Latin characters, or can I use the keyboard as it is.

2) Is the charger that comes with the device is somehow compatible with the US (or even European) voltage system? Or do I have to buy a special charger?

Are there any other culprits you might think of (execpt the guarantee question) ?

You may use the keyboard without any problem: however, KeyHelper lets you redefine for example the kanji and byte(?) keys - those left of space - so you may consider adding it.
As for the charger, I do not know. It should work with 110V, but I did not try it since in Europe voltage is 230V :-)

thanks for the help.

The charger at my 5500 for example allows an input voltage from 100V-240V.
So I can use it in Europe and the US if I have an apropriate adapter for the plug. But I do not need another charger.

I my 5500 charger from a us sl5500 to charge both my c760 and my sl550 in the uk. The c760 charger will probably go bang if I plug it into 240volts.

So if you have a 5500, just use the charger from that.

The power adapter that came with my zaurus C860 is 100v. I\'m using it without a problem on 110V here in Canada.

I\'m using a spare EA-70 charger with my C-860, and it works like a charm. It\'s 2amps instead of 1amp, but don\'t let that concern you, amperage is only a measure of the MAXIMUM load a charger can take, nothing more. Also, the charger for the 5500 that I got and \"modified\" for my 5600 charges the batteries externally for C-860 perfectly. Nothing like a spare !

If you need any more reassurance, my wife bought me a C860 from Japan two weeks ago and I\'ve been using it pretty much 24/7 since then with the PSU which came with it. (I am in NYC, USA). No problem at all. I also remember seeing the same transformer on the C750 (which I only reviewed for bargainPDA, but I had it for 3 weeks).
