Screen Rotate
« on: March 31, 2004, 05:19:20 pm »
I have the rotate app installed but it rotates to the way that the CF card is on the left and the sync port is on the right.  I dunno about anyone else but it\'s a pain to try and hold the Zaurus like this.  I\'m right handed so I like to use the pen in my right hand, but the best way of holding the Zaurus is at the base of it.. with my right hand.

Is there anyway to rotate the screen so that the bottem would be on the \'right\' side of the Zaurus?

I would like to know the same thing as well.  I haven\'t done much searching around though because this feature doesn\'t bother me much.  It would be nice to know if there is a way though, maybe a config file somewhere?

I tried last night for about 2 hours trying to force myself to use the stylus in my left hand... I am SO not left handed! I thought to myself, it can\'t be that hard, it\'s just \'point and tap\".... I must have spent a good 30 minutes during this time just looking at my hand going \"how the hell am I suposed to hold this thing?!\"  No matter what I tired I couldn\'t get my hand to do what I wanted.

Well as they say if the left side of the brain controls the right side of your body then only left handed people are in their right mind

There is no \'Advanced\' under Apperance that I can find, anyone else able to find this? What rotation app are you using? The only one I can find is qtopia-rotation_1.5.0_arm.ipk

I would guess that the rotation is helpful for IR keyboards so the sensors can face each other while typing.

That said, I agree with the rest that it would be great to rotate in the other direction. Even better if this could be chosen (in case you have an IR keyboard)...

Well I have found a fix for this kinda.

http://www.apex.net.au/~twalker/qtpalmtop/

If you upgrade to Qtopia 1.6.2 you get a setting for \'rotation\', and can do it any of the 4 ways and there is no 20 second delay

I have switched to using Zynergy\'s ROM as I think that\'s about the best one for me, but now with Qtopia 1.6.2 I\'ve lost all the things that made Zynergy so cool.   Who\'s up for updating the Zynergy ROM to Qtopia 1.6.2??   That would give us 5600 users a very nice ROM in my eyes.

What is actauly needed to be done to do something like this, and where can I find information on how to make ROMs?

I think suchs is talking about openzaurus, you can change this setting in openzaurus, and rotate on OZ is much better.

So does anyone in here know if Qtopia 1.6.2 will work on the normal sharp rom?  I don\'t want to hose mine.  I\'m on a 5600 with latest sharp rom.

I agree with RichS:  the most useful function of Rotate is to allow use of an IR Keyboard like pockeTop

Well, that doesn\'t help this topic.  It would be best if it could be configured and changed.  An IR keyboard is not the only reason to rotate the screen.
