Is any OZ ROM good for the SL-5600?
« on: April 09, 2004, 07:29:35 pm »
I\'ve been looking into moving from the Sharp ROM to OZ on my 5600, but from what I\'ve read, it seems it\'s not really ready for prime time yet. Is that the case? I assume that this has something to do with the md5sum for the zImage I download not matching what\'s on the web site.

BTW, Am I right that OZ/Opie provides on-the-fly display rotation without need to restart the UI?

Unless you\'re looking for a time-consuming challenge to get everything working, I\'d stick with something more compatible with the 5600. Opie does have the on-the-fly screen rotation from what I recall, but I haven\'t played with it much. I\'d recommend zynergy5600 if you\'re looking for something better than the stock sharp install, but not a hastle....
I\'ve been running it for a while now, and I love it. At least, I love it enough to hold me over until OZ is running well on the 5600....

Would be nice to get another zynergy release, maybe with the special kernel already in there. Anyone running the special kernel on zynergy, and can comment on how well it runs?

I have tried every rom the 5600 can be flashed with, as well as others =]  The tkcRom proves the most stable and supports a drag ass OTF screen rotation.  Although it might as well be the sharp rom.  Zynergy was the runner-up but... I can\'t exactly recall what I didn\'t like about it.

Personally I would love to see Oz stable for the 5600.  The rom itself is quite stable, and even 3.3.6-1 can run nicely - but only after numerous patches and conf edits.
