If you own a Zaurus SL-5500 series PDA and you\'re looking for a really top class case, check out the link below. These are the best cases I\'ve seen; handmade from soft veal skin and specially designed for the SL-5500, they are available in three colours (black, tan and black/tan combination) or special finishes (crocodile or ostrich effect cowskin). They also come in a smart presentation box, making a great gift item. Worldwide delivery is included in the price and you can place your order securely online.

You\'ll also find a number of other handmade leather items, including SmartPhone cases, Desk Phone & PDA Holders, Cigar & Cigarette holders, Wallets and much more.

Check the full list of products out at www.anokhi.biz

Personally I would like a case to fit my 5600 in though with the way things are with this model it does not look like there is anough of a need to make a case for it.

Thanks for all the posts. The customer is king and feedback is essential to that end.

Veedub. I believe that the appalling conditions you rightly condem are as a result of the lucrative market for veal as meat and that the use of their skins is very much a secondary issue - as mentioned by clivel in his post. However, I understand your arguments and appreciate your comments.

In fact, I may have caused unnecessary concern over this, as it appears that the use of Vealskin in the production of these cases was either incorrect, or they have now stopped using it. The cases are made with Cowskin (occasionally Goatskin, depending on the item in question) and I am currently in contact with my supplier, to confirm this and also to clarify the issue of the age of the cattle for you.

Wolfman. Re the SL-5600 model, you are correct in that there is no specific case available at present and that this is unlikely to change. However, I understood that the 5500 and 5600 models used the same chassis, with only the processor specifications being different? The only thing I\'m not sure about is the higher capacity battery on the 5600 seems to result in up to a 0.2\" difference in depth between the two models. Can anyone here clarify the situation, please?

Best wishes

To get back on track though I must say if I didn\'t already have a case I would go for one.  I am sure they are quite nice.

brett-

You are correct, with the higher capacity battery there is a .20\" bump out for the battery making most 5500 cases unusable with the 5600.

brett,

The only physical differance is the extra space needed for the extended battery I do not have the actuall measurements, though if I actually measure it myself I am sure it would not be accurate.  The extra width I would not think it would be to much as long as the case had a \"stretch\" side to the case.

I\'m sure it wouldn\'t be that hard for them to make the same case but give it a little bump on the back for the battery.  There may not be as many 5600\'s I guess but it seems they are more in need of a good case.

Well actually right now I am using a case for a GBA (pre SP) I picked it up at BigLots for $5 it works well actually and has space to store things like a NIC and other small items for the Zaurus.

With reference to my earlier posts here and on the off-topic forum, I have spoken to the supplier and he assures me that only Grade 1a Cowskin is used. Veal is NOT used and I therefore apologize for this mistake and any distress caused. The anokhi.biz site will be modified shortly to reflect the use of Cowskin.

Thanks for your comments re the SL-5600. I have spoken to the manufacturers about this and there is no plan to make a case for the 5600, I\'m afraid. It\'s possible that the 5500 case would fit, but I have no way of testing it at present. A 6000 series case may be manufactured, though, and I will update you if this happens.

Best wishes

be interested to know which gba case you\'re using wolfman as I own several (cases only one gba) and none of them would be suitable for my 5500 (course the \'temporary\' replacement plastic palm stylus sticking out the top doesn\'t help) but even without that I can\'t comfortably fit my zaurus into a gba case.
Also my zaurus is permanently attached to my belt, so any case would need a belt loop and an opening that doesn\'t dump the zaurus on the floor if you forget to close the case. My current case saw many years service with my hp95lx (gone to the great chip heap in the sky and still lamented) before being home to my zaurus and it\'s pretty much falling apart.
Just looked at the cases on anokhi and they would be totally unsuitable for me. What they are is a protective covering not a true case. Surely ease of removal and not having to remember where the damn thing is has to be important - particularly if you use your zaurus as much as I do. Something that wraps round the zaurus and therefore needs something else to carry it in is of little or no use. Unless anyone can say otherwise ?

These cases look just like the Piel Frama cases made for Sharp Zaurus. Check it out: www.pielframa.com; see under \'Sharp\' and also in their luxury line, which includes ostrich I think. Perhaps Anokhi is now a distributor.

I ordered a Xigma book-style case and it arrived last week. I love the quality, but...it\'s half suede, which I didn\'t realize when I ordered it. My bad, I guess. The suede will eventually get really gross, plus it looks \'girly\' and not terribly rugged (although it\'s very rugged indeed).

You are correct, they do look the same.

I have had a Piel Frama case for my sl-5000 for like 2 years now, the cases they make are great products.

Any chances we\'d see a case for SL-6000 or an 860 with a large battery anytime soon?
