OpenZaurus?
« on: April 12, 2004, 07:59:13 pm »
I just flashed my zaurus with the OpenZaurus room (i have the SL-5000d).  I lost a couple of my key applications, it kind of robbed my PDA from its functionality..   What happend to my Web Browser? and my Media Player??  the only equivelants i\'ve found on the web were unavailable.  does anyone have the .ipk\'s for Opie Player 2 and Konquerer?  i cant seem to find them anywhere...

Maybe i\'m out of line here but what is the point of my PDA if i cant surf the web and play media, those are the reasons i bought it!

Thanks folks

Under the settings tab, click on Packages.  You\'ll want konqueror for web and opie media player 2 for audio/video.  Here\'s my list of package sources if you miss opera too much or want to try out wellenreiter for wireless network scanning:
Code: [Select]
src xmms http://xmms-embedded.sourceforge.net/feed/oz32

src opera http://elkins.org/zfeed

src wellenreiter http://opie.net.wox.org/wellenreiter/feed/openzaurus/armv4l-gcc2.95

mplayer will, xmms is just a front end afaik. Opie-mediaplayer2 also works fine for me. See my post in the OpenZaurus section.

You could use konq, but I\'d personally use Opera which you can download off the web - there was a thread about opera 7 in the General Chat section, with an URL.

Is your Z able to connect to the web? If so you can edit /etc/ipkg.conf and uncomment the src line to allow it to get packages. If not download them from the appropriate feed (I don\'t know which ROM you\'re using so I can only give you a list) and then place them somewhere on your Z (CF/SD card is best as you probably don\'t have that much room on / to be housing ipks):

3.3.6pre1: http://www.openzaurus.org/official/experim...4.18-gcc3/ipks/
