Eon Games, what happened to them?
« on: April 13, 2004, 03:33:21 pm »
Does anybody know what happened to eon games?  If I buy a game from them will they be there to send the registration code to me?

It appears that their site was last updated sometime in mid 2003.  It\'s rather frustrating that there isn\'t any recent news up.  I want to get that snails game so bad but it looks like they never finished the beta demo (which runs great on my 5600).

Anybody from eon games out there?  Any one else have info on this subject.

I\'m on the verge of buying RocketElite but they haven\'t responded to my email so will they email me my registration?

Snails most likely isnt going to be released. There shouldnt be any trouble buying the stuff already released though, it was all handled by scripts.

I\'ve written to Eon Games twice, no reply. I had no problem buying one of their games though as the process was automated.

I\'m still alive, and orders and such should still function (it\'s automatic). However I\'m pretty much not doing any PDA / Zaurus development at the moment. Snails might be released and I really wish I could get it out sometime soon.

You could say that I am a bit disappointed with how the zaurus evolved itself away from the \"mainstream\" (well it never was there, but the goals used to be).

Good to see you\'re still around and even reading these forums David.

Just wondering what is left to do on the Snails game? Are there more maps to port? I\'ve played the demo to death and haven\'t come across any bugs. I\'m sure there would be quite a number of people that would buy the full version (including me  ).

Are you sure you can\'t get these games working nicely on the C7xx/8xx models. Think of all those potential Japanese customers

Exactly, think of ME!  ;-)

Jingly puzzles and stuff is all well and good in small doses, but I want some serious shoot-em up action, Doom is good , Interstellar Flames is even better , my bro swears by it and makes me jealous of his 5500. I\'d even pay again, DOUBLE THE PRICE for a version specific to the C series, all you have to do is flip the display, OR patch it or something!!!

C\'mon Eon Games make some more games, or GNU the code.

The problem with Interstellar Flames in particular is that it was designed specifically for a portrait PDA. Since it is a port of the Pocket PC version I would imagine it would be too much work to convert all the graphics to display in landscape orientation. The long narrow path that you can fly along was done largely because of the portrait orientation of most PDAs.

We would see more interesting games if someone would take the plunge and start submitting Zaurus changes to SDL upstream. Since no one wants to do that, all Zaurus ports of SDL suffer from bitrot.
