want to purchase a zaurus in the uk
« on: October 31, 2003, 09:56:35 am »
hey.

a few friends have had zaurus\'s (zaurii?!?) for quite a while now and i finally wanna make the \"investment\".

had a play on a 5500 and its perfect for what i need.

expansys.com appear to be selling sharp recon ones from the states...

but there selling them in the uk - would these work cus of the power difference?

i think one of my mates eventually (thru ebay) came from singapore...

would you buy a \"recon\" unit?  (brand new, never used apparently - with a 30 day rtb warranty)

cheers.

I always try to avoid the recon units personaly, I just don\'t trust them.  Lot\'s of people have good edxperiences with them, I just don\'t like the idea.  As for the power issue, no, an American power supply will NOT work in the UK.  However you have 2 very good options.
1. The make travel converters that will drop it down to the 110v that we use.
OR
2.  You can go to Radio Shakc or whatever electronics store you have and get any old 5v 2a powersupply that will fit in the hole.  IT\'s a standard plug, so it shouldn\'t be hard to find.

The Zaurus power supply works anywhere in the world. You only need to change the plug and that detaches from the AC brick and is a standard figure of eight socket lead which can be easily swapped. All AC bricks, whether from a US or UK Zaurus can operate on 110-240V and 50/60Hz.
