Can\'t have my cake and eat it, too
« on: April 16, 2004, 11:20:18 am »
I\'m getting rather frustrated with my SL-5500.  I picked up a Pocketop IR keyboard for it. My problem is that I can\'t find a ROM that will work with they keyboard and rotate the display for me.

Open Zaurus (3.2 and 3.3.5) is great for the screen rotation, but IRK (0.10 and 0.11) doesn\'t work for me (Opie restarts, and the IR keyboard doesn\'t show up in the input selection).

The Sharp ROM works wonderfully with IRK, but I can\'t get the screen rotation applet to work with it.  It installs and shows up in the menu, but when I run it, Opie restarts with no change to the display.

My preference would be to keep using OZ (particularly 3.3.5 because it seems way faster to me), but what I really want is to be able to rotate my screen and use the keyboard.  Anybody else experienced this problem and/or have a solution to it?

I have a pocketop kybd and i tried it today with OZ3.2 + IRK 11 and it works fine :/

Also tried it on tkc2 Alpha 3 + IRK 11 + qt-embedded-rotation-fix_2.3.2-4_arm.ipk + rotate_0.0.2_arm.ipk and still works so perhaps you have a corrupt ipk - other than that i can\'t offer any advice.
SL-5500 with tkc 2.0 Alpha 3.0 (/home on SD)
Kingston 256MB SD Card
Fujifilm 128MB CF Card
Wisgo 802.11b CF Wireless LAN Card
XP Pro, Redhat 7.3

That ipk works fine with the Sharp ROM, though.   Perhaps on OZ I should try installing it from the command line rather than the gui?

Hmm ... I tried the ipk from cwaig\'s site (now that he\'s got that running again), and it works just fine with OZ 3.2.

Good deal.

That\'s unhealthy, one should only love the Z.  ;-)
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.
