Mandrake 9.1 USB Link Success, Qtopia Desktop Failure
« on: November 02, 2003, 09:27:20 pm »
Folks,

The good news is that I just got the USB link working between my Mandrake 9.1 box and my SL-C750. I can SSH to it and everything. The bad news is that I can\'t find a version of Qtopia Desktop that will see it. I have tried versions 1.6.0beta1-1, 1.6.2-1rh9, and 1.7.0-1rh9.

Does anybody have any ideas? Does anybody have an IPK of the SL-5500 pims I can try?

James

OK,

I have learned from a knowledgable source that NO Linux version of Qtopia Deskop will work with the C7X0, and only one windows version will. Can anybody provide details/verify this? I might be able to get it working under WINE.

I\'m not sure about the C-760, but for the 5x00 devices, it is possible to install Qtopia 1.6.2 onthe device, and then you can sync with the desktop with Qtopia desktop 1.6.2 OR 1.7

Right now I\'m useing 1.6.2 on both and it\'s flawless, but I have an sl-5500

Be warned though, if you try this, there\'s a lot of differences between the sharp rom and wtopia 1.6.2, and you will find that you need to install a lot of other packages to get all of your functionality back.

Here is the web site for installing 1.6.2, I think it should probably work on a 760, though you will probably have to hard reset if I\'m wrong, so do it at your own risk.    http://www.apex.net.au/~twalker/qtpalmtop/
