My big question still remains is the 6000 really that much better to set my 5600 aside, What do I really gain besides a nice display and I could free up the CF slot? No one has yet to give any really good info to sell me. My 5600 meets all my expectations and is only 1 year old. Kind of hard to justify buying one for the price.

Hi all,

I just got my SL-6000L about a week ago.  Overall I am quite impressed.  My previous PDA was a Handspring Visor so the Sharp is quite an improvement.  I use the PDA mostly for training notes and lesson plans.

I did think the price was a bit expensive.  About the only factor that initially concerned me was the microscopic default text on Opera.  Scaling didn\'t work very well because scaling changes both text and photos.  In the end I rewrote my training files (web pages) using a larger font.

The wireless is nice and makes it pretty easy to transfer files to and from my Mandrake 9.2 desktop using ftp.  I also have ssh and rsync installed.

I was a bit bummed out that the USB connection did not work.  Aparently the 6000 is supposed to show up as USB storage device.  Unfortunately Mandrake 9.2 didn\'t recognize the device.

On a different note, could someone please make a recommendation for a wireless keyboard?

Thanks

DB

1)  The USB host
2)  The ruggedness.

The second point here is not to be underestimated, and leads to all kinds of interesting possibilities such as:

a) If you\'re standing around bored, you could use your 6000 as a hackeysack.  IF you\'re playing on concrete, you should probably not kick it higher than a meter.

You could hang it from a pole with a rope and play tetherball.

c)  Zaurus football?

I\'m sure people can think of many other ideas...

The screen alone is worth the upgrade.  Not having to swap wireless card and microdrive is a nice bonus.  Not running out of memory is a super nice bonus.  The PIM appplications are fine for me, far better then they were on my first Z, although not much changed from the 5600.

Some minor bugs in the 5600 are fixed.  The bug where it take forever for the Z to come out out screen saver mode  if left on overnite isnt fixed. The most annoying difference I\'ve found is that the 6000\'s appletviewer wont fetch web pages and run the applets in them, it only works on local pages. Opera has problems rendering some pages that rendered fine on the 5600.
