difficulties installin Qtopia 1.21

I am trying to install qtopia 1.21;
I request a flash re-partion to 27MB, then press OK for a re-boot;
at this point it hangs -- never comes out of the \"boot\" phase to
give me the option to install the new rom.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I thought I had \"bricked\" the thing, so did a full NAND restore;
same behaviour ...
advice please!

Follow the flash procedure again, that is uplug the battery, OK + Power, etc. When you see the blue menu, select Install new ROM.
