Is there a landscape mode terminal program for the 6000 ?
« on: April 18, 2004, 09:07:58 pm »
Hi!  I just bought a 6000, and have been amusing myself by installing a zillion peices of old 5500 software.  So far, it\'s been pretty good -- I\'ve been running about a 90% success rate.

However, I was a little disappointed to find that the terminal programs I loaded would not rotate -- I had been looking forward to a console that didn\'t have wrapping or line-length problems!

Is there a landscape mode terminal program for the 6000 out yet?

Thanks for any pointers!

The standard Terminal app as well as Qkonsole rotate fine for me.

No kidding!  I wonder what I am doing wrong, then.  I have installed Terminal and Qkonsole, and both work well in portrait mode.  However, when these come up, the \"rotation\" option from the Qt menu bar goes away, so I don\'t know *how* to rotate.  If I rotate from the menu and *then* invoke Terminal or Qkonsole, it comes up portrait and then goes back to landscape when I get out of the app.

But then, I also still haven\'t figured out how to make the \"light bulb\" key rotate the screen -- the StartUp guide says it\'s *both* a light-dimming *and* rotation key, but it only dims/brightens the lights when I pushed it, and I haven\'t found a key combination that causes rotation.

No joy with holding down the button...

BUT.... I did figure out one problem with the terminal -- I had installed an older version that I had downloaded from www.killefiz.de.
The one the comes on the CD rotates just fine...

hold down on the qconsole icon and uncheck \"maganified\" and it will rotate too. Rotation using the light key works for me too.

My gripe with the terminal is that I am too old to see the tiny font.  And when I try to change it, the only option is to go even smaller.  Any clues?

I agree.  Some larger font options would be nice.

I read another thread where they were discussing d/ling other fonts to use with the console. You should do a search.
