Mercury nl-2511 CF Wifi card and my 5500
« on: April 20, 2004, 10:56:51 am »
Used to have a prism 2.5 based wifi card (really cheap one from ebay with blue label) That worked extremely well. Plugged and played out of the box,  had no problems with my home network.
And then it died :-(. Not sure quite what happened but it flat out died while I was using aol aim from the net. Now it just shows 53% connection whether you\'re within a mile of wifi or not - plus the access point has reset to something really weird (44:44:44:44:44:44).
So it\'s dead, no problem, I bought a new one.
Now I\'ve got a pink card that is probably using the prism 3.0 chipset (from what I can find on the net).
I\'m on my second pink card and and neither one has talked to my zaurus in any shape or form. No flashing lights, no cf symbol in the taskbar nada, zero, zilch, nothing to even indicate there is a cf card (let alone a network card) plugged in.
The guy on ebay I bought the pink card from deserves a mention (bluetech) as he\'s being very helpful, changed the card over with no hassle or extra postage and is willing to exchange for an older 2.5 prism blue card if I can\'t get any joy out of this one.
I\'m guessing I need drivers, though can find none listed anywhere.
Does anyone have any USEFUL (lol) suggestions ?
I\'d like to try and get the new card running as the performance is theoretically much better (ie: surf the net in the garden with my feet up and a beer in my other hand).
Anyone else bought one of these new pink mercury cards ?

and if so did it work ?
I\'ve got a 5500 with the sharp 3.10 rom
ps. anyone managed to install the opie mrdiaplayer 2.0 on the 3.10 rom and if so how ?????????
Cheers

If anyone can bring any information to the table, I\'d be very interested, as I\'ve (unfortunately?) bought this exact same card and am getting a Zaurus SL5500 in the next few days :/

It works in OZ3.2 if I add the driver definition (it uses the orinoco_cs module) to /etc/pcmcia/config...

I\'m trying to get it working in The Kompany rom, but no joy so far - It flashes, then pcmcia is suspended and so far, I can\'t figure out why... Does anyone else have this problem, or can suggest a solution? I\'ve tried copying the orinoco modules from OZ3.2, but same problem, so I don\'t think it\'s module-related

Got it working on the Kompany rom  Edit /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.conf and add the card using the prism2 driver - Works fine

We got a new batch of these and ran into the same problem.

For same reason ours have a green sticker though.

Found the answer on ZUG forum.
