Inexpensive 5x00 Case
« on: April 22, 2004, 08:03:44 am »
FWIW, If you need an interim case for your 5x00 while you look
for just the right one;  the local Target store (check yours)
is clearance-ing a TI-86/83 zipper case for less than $4.
Plenty of room, storage, pencil/stylis holders etc.
Lightly padded and strudy.  I think I can add an
elastic band to hold my 5600 in place. There are
several credit card sized pockets inside and a zippered
pocket outside; large enough to hold CF card etc.

(no connections)

Cool!  I use an old Lilly insulin/needles case.  But the TI case would be better methinks.

Cheers,
By your command...

I originally used an old Vets blood-test kit case, we would have looked cool at the local geek feast!

I was in a Target store this past weekend and they had several of the
TI cases on clearance.
---------
I found a Targus Case at wallyworld that works well.  It holds the 5600
and has an internal pocket that should hold the cf when it arrives.
It too was clearanced at $4.  (Don\'t have model# right now, but can get
it if interested).

As it comes, the case is too short (5600).  But the flap is plenty long.
So I removed the vellcrow (with heavy use, it doesn\'t last anyway).
Put  2 heavy duty snaps on the case and it\'s just right for the 5600.

If you position the snaps high enough, there may be enough room to
hold the 5600 with a wifi card installed.  (don\'t have one yet :^(

You can get a little kit that has snaps and the tool to install them for <$2.
(JoAnn fabrics has a cool looking dark colored snap. Wallyworld has
silver ones. Just make sure to get \'heavy duty\' snaps.
