Which files system type?

Hey, I just got a Sandisk Ultra II 256 MB card... mad 64M swap... and wanted the rest to be ext2, but when I did that I lost more space than the original FAT16....
Is there a better file system to use for a SL-C700?

I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

mkswap /dev/mmcda1
mkfs.ext2 /dev/mmcda2
