Avoid anything sticky, I\'m still considering and searching... I had one on a Clie which had a matt sheen to it, very nice, but sticky, if I\'d got any dust trapped or faffed it up, I\'d have been right royally boned

Kind of the opposite end...

I\'d advise avoiding anything that \"floats\". Read of cases where the protector had something trapped under it. Due to protector not being fixed, causing scratches on screen.

I defer to you mighty Zuber :-)

BUT someone did post here recently that they shattered their screen trying to remove a sticky one.. that put me off.

I was going to PM you about it anyway..

I have a G2 as well but I am not satisfied with it.  The 5600 does not have a \"tuck under\" on the right side of the screen which is where dust is getting in.  After reading the post about the shattered screen, I am not about to put in another G2.

Ethereal, how did you solve the lack of tuck under on the Right?

I shouldn\'t say I had no problem, but mine tucked under on the right with no more difficulty than the other sides, taking into consideration that it was the final side--kinda like to proverbial threading of a 20 gauge IV into a 22 gauge vein.  There is a wide black border at the right of the 5600 screen, which houses the frontlight.  Beyond this is the frame, where the G2 can be tucked under.

My problem with installing the G2 is that it requires simultaneous attention to the contortions necessary to finnagle the oversized protector into place and to fastidious dust removal/exclusion--it\'s too many things to juggle at once.

if youre uk based then i recommend a \"Brando Screen Protector Zaurus SL-5500 (Approx. 73 x 58.5 mm)\" from shirtpocket
you get a single piece and i would say it is medium thickness compared to a fellows writeright micro-thin protector, but i find u get a \"better\" (personal thing) screen interaction with the brando..
it is sticky based but as long as you follow the instructions then it should be fine
two tips i would recommend are, forget the steaming up a bathroom to remove dust from a room, instead i got my hands on one of them DRY static dusting cloths, lightly dusted the screen (so i didnt grind any particles into the screen im trying to protect) and then rested the z on the sheet when i was tryng to attach the protector.
the second thing is to make sure that the protector is flush to the lefthand side of the z as u have a good 2-3 mm of non used screen on the right as well as the light strip which u have to avoid.  and the tip about using some sticky tape to lift it up works a treat (this is refering to a 5600)
one thing i would say is if u are comparing a before and after, ive tried 3 different brands and a protector always seems to make the screen not so sharp, but after a day u hardly can notice (unless u are anal...), and u have to sacrifice some usability for security as always...

I have a G2, and had the problem that cmisip had. I solved it by taking my 5600 apart and installing it.

The problem with non-sticky screens (like my G2) is that even after installing, now the screen doest seem to be very clear when the zaurus is in suspended mode - air or whatever seems to form squggles and patterns underneath the screen as where I press on it.
Even when I am working, at angles those sqiggles are visible on the bright screen and they kind of are a distraction to me.

Sometimes I think I wil just do away with the screen protector totally.

I\'ve had a NuShield (www.nushield.com) installed on my 5600 for a couple of months now and I dont have any issues with squiggles and patterns underneath as Nilch has with the G2.  One thing that may be worth mentioning is that in the NuShield literature, the shield can only go one face up.  If you put it in with the writing suface touching the screen you get the squiggles and oily patterns that Nilch is experiencing...so maybe Nilch could try turning the G2 over to see if the patterns disappear?

Installation was a bit tricky though. I couldn\'t get it to go between the case and the black strip on the right of the screen, I had to trim the right edge of the shield slightly so that it would just about fit under the black strip without showing the tapered edge of the shield.  You\'ll understand what i mean about the tapered edges if you look at their website.

I just got a Brando screen protector for my 5600. Easy to fit, I used the suggestion of steaming up the bathroom and fitting it in there to avoid dust. Worked a charm. Surface is very slightly less responsive to the stylus, I think mainly because I\'m used to being very gently with the stock screen. With the protector you can etch away with the stylus and nothing much seems to mark it. Also it seems much less prone to dust sticking to the outer surface, maybe because it has a slightly matte finish.

But (there\'s always a \"but\") while using it at work I noticed that the right side of the protector was lifted slightly from the screen underneath due to the screen curving upwards slightly at the edge (The protector is larger than the \"pointable\" surface by about 3-4mm) Not terriblly unsightly, but noticeable. So I decided (at work) to lift the edge of the protector -easy and safe to do- and slice a strip off the right hand side with a scalpel. This worked OK but as soon as the edge was lifted about 5,000 individual dust particles decided to have a party on the underside of the protector   No way I could fix that at my desk to I waited for home and tried to wash it. Even in a steamy room this is very difficult. In the end I washed it as best I could with soap and water (bottom surface didn\'t lose any adhesion properties), drying it off and then removing any dust with sticky tape while I applied the protector to the screen. Now it\'s almost perfect, but it just goes to show the instructions are sometimes worth following (they suggest both the steamy room and the tape trick).

Good protector though, and it\'s nice to be able to dig away with the stylus without worrying too much.

[span style=\'font-size:25pt;line-height:100%\']I have used a ton and hands down BEST was this place:
http://www.additionsinfo.com/
[/span]
They give you an applicator and with a  little work and I was screen protecting the cat

I mean I screen protected eeverything and they all came out beautifully.  No patterns and easy to pull and redo to get those tough bubbles as you go.

I think they may have adhension...but if they do...5 months later I removed one and my scren had no residue....actually can move them from one device to another after months (but don\'t looke quite as nice obviously).

UPDATED: Also price is $19.99 which is alot (I think anyway), but shipping is free...they are 15 in qty and generally large enough for anything...(I just ordered two seconds ago...thanks for reminding me  )  you just cut to size...which I prefer! The extra from a Zaurus will leave you small ones for camera LCDs etc. (or at least that is what I recall)

Gotta say that both my friend and I both love them...then hard one I got with my C860 was nice at first glance, but then I notice that it foggies the glass a bit...it\'s washable, but still foggy....so although I would rate that the most rugged, I would rather get the addons brand.

Thoughts?

I\'m using a boxwave on my 6000.  It\'s sticky, but doesn\'t seem to leave anything behind when its peeled off, it gives a nice feel to the stylus and the screen is as bright as ever.  Only downside is it\'s a little bit expensive,  $13 for 1 or $28 for 3.
