New Gebian Linux user questions

I recently purchased a Cosmo from Ebay and I've installed Gebian but I have a couple of questions:

I don't see anyway to configure Bluetooth, what am I missing

The sound volume is really law even though it seems to be set at 100%. How do I resolve this

The sound might come from the ear piece. Try switching to the speaker, e.g. by plugging in and off a headphone.

In the latest Gemian Linux distro you can go into the sound volume settings and change the output to output to speaker but unfortunately it changes back to earpiece on every reboot. I have not found a way to keep it set to speaker on reboot yet.

The current kernel does not have bluetooth enabled.

Note: Only tested after update to v4, ie using lxc-android not droid-hal...

There seems to be a conflict in gemian v4 with LibreOffice.  Attempting to install LibreOffice gives a warning that it will remove packages camera-app. media-hub, messaging-app.  I recall that the message app disappeared on installing LibreOffice in gemian V3, which could be fixed by re-installing the message app.  I aborted the installation of LibreOffice this time, but presumably the next thing to try is re-installing these packages after LibreOffice.

Install aptitude ( apt-get  install aptitude ) and do sudo aptitude install libreoffice . That is it. Good luck.

Thanks cam1965.  That worked.  aptitude identifies apparmor as breaking media-hub and messaging-app and gives the option not to install apparmor.  LibreOffice was then installed with messaging app still available.

But I have to say that messaging-app  is only working for outgoing messages. Not for  incoming messages. I don't know if it is working as expected for you. Good luck .

Same for me.  Outgoing calls work in phone and messaging, but nothing incoming.  I think you have followed this up elsewhere on the forum.  I haven't tried to fix the phone for incoming calls myself.
