Getting a Sl5600

Yeah, my Gramma decided I needed a going away present since I am moving to ireland this june. So I am just inquiring about the Sl5600
I found it on amazon 210$ cheaper than listing price so thats good:)

I need to know a few things firstly.

1.Will it work in europe with a correct plug adapter?
2.I was looking at some other programs availible for it such as Openzaurus to replace the current OS on it.  Airsort and kismet are also availible I am sure. What are some other good programs for the zaurus or where can i find a list of opensource Linux PDA progs.
3. Is Firefox availible as opposed to Opera for the zaurus?
4.What are some needed accessories besides a wireless card and memory(BTW i also need to know which wireless card and memory chip would be best wireless G card if availible) IE a case or other objects
5.What is the normal lifespan of the zaurus?
6.Is getting an extra battery a good idea and if so from where? (in terms of price)

If I have any more questions I will ask I will probably join this forum if I get it. Thanks Guys

Well about the power adaptor.  It should be no problem getting one for it.  The adaptor the zaurus comes with is 5volts DC.  5 volt adaptors dont seem to be available anywhere becides from Sharp.  Don\'t know why, I have never found any.  Are you currently in the UK?  Just get a universal adaptor that can do 4.5 voltd DC from Dixons or Comet.
A 4.5 vold DC adaptor will work just fine.  (I use a 4.5 adaptor to power my Z in the car)

I am living in Ireland an using my bought from the US SL5600 with no problems. OZ 3.3.6 -pre1 is not really there yet as regards day to day use, I would love to us it but there are too many snags (which are workaroundable, but not if you want to do something other than workaround snags). Zynergy with the special kernel (pxa 250 work around) is the most practical option at the moment, I have been using it daily for the last month, unlike OZ or TK rom which usualy ended up being reflashed within a day or two, and then reinstalled -repeat !

its a auto switching psu so u can use it automatically with 240 and 120 v
also if u have two batteries and charge them both, you have to keep swapping them since if you let li-ion batteries fully discharge it damages them

I have a 5600 and I\'m in the UK. The AC adapter comes in two parts, the bit with the switching adapter that plugs into the Zaurus and then a standard lead that plugs into the AC socket with a figure of eight connector that plugs into the adapter box. So all you need to do is get a replacement cable with a standard AC plug on one end and a figure of eight plug at the other end. They\'re only a couple of quid/euros and can be found in most decent electronics stores.

OpenZaurus isn\'t very stable on the 5600 as yet from reports that I have heard.

Firefox is not available for the Zaurus yet, but the version of Opera that it comes with is very good and has been specifically designed for the small screen.

Cases are hard to come by for the 5600 because of the battery bulge, but it\'s very sturdy anyway and the clear screen cover protects the screen very well.

Don\'t know about the lifespan of the 5600 (Only had mine since November last year), but I also have a 5500 that is 2 years old now and is still going strong (Has been heavily used and only had to replace the battery a few months ago, which is fairly normal for lithium batteries).

Regarding point #4. I don\'t think there is such thing as 802.11g CF wireless card on the market (yet).
