SUPER GEEKED OUT. HIGH STORAGE USE SUGGESTIONS
« on: May 07, 2004, 04:57:35 pm »
I got TWO 4GB microdrives for my C860 and was curious if anyone had any great idea to use with all that storage...

MP3\'s and Moview are obvious, but what else?

Prolly should decided before I bought them ,but they were just too good a deal to resist (sorry no more avail for sale).

Thoughts?

1.  Run a web server lol.
2.  Create a google like search engine to spider the web and keep a cache of everything.

hmm, those are the first ideas that popped into my head.  Probably not very practical.

Sierra games for Sarien, Lucas Arts games for ScummVm, pocketworkstation and Xqt for a debian install that runs on top of Qtopia without having reboot, Zten and all the dictionary files you can load - there are quite a few of them and some of them are about 60Mb uncompressed, every ipk that you can download just so you have them available when you need/want them

I agree!  Make your SL-C860 a portable library!

...how big is the internet anyways?  Maybe you can download the whole thing offline.  lol!  8)

Omi:  THough I just have the one, I haven\'t been able to get it to work with my 860,  aarrggghhh !@  Care to give me some of your words o\' wisdom on how you got \'em going ?  Mine shows the CF icon, but I can\'t get to anything, and mount seems to fail.  I can use these on my PC (Xp Pro with a CF adapter), but no joy in the Zaurus.  Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

The above is the process I used on BOTH drives and both auto-mount perfectly and work in Windows XP and Linux (sharp C860)

Let me know if it works for you.

Personally, since I travel a lot and spend a ton of time on flights and waiting in airports, I just load \'em up with movies.  I can get between 5 and 9 full-length movies on one 4Gb card and the quality is quite good.  I get a lot of weird looks and curious questions, so that\'s the downside !  :-)
