mp3 playback
« on: May 13, 2004, 11:51:28 am »
I have been trying to play MP3\'s on my Sharp Zarus 5500, which SHOULD be able to play MP3\'s just fine. But I am getting a message that the proper decoder could not be found. I have loaded all the Zaurus players I could find, but still am not able to play the Linux Show MP3\'s back. They play just fine on my (gulp) windows and linux desk and laptops.

Anyone run across this before?

FYI these are specifically \"The Linux Show\" Mp3\'s.

Are they a very low bitrate or possible enocoded at a different frequency than 44100?  If they are voice that is possible.  I have played vorbis (ogg) at very low bitrate, but that is using the vorbis plugin.  I did have some voice mp3 files that would not play, and they were a different frequency like 22400 or something.

Hi,

I was able to play one of the mp3 files (downloaded the first one from the archive) using mplayer.  Have you tried that?  It\'s command-line...

I had the same problem.  Media Player played the sermons I downloaded (http://www.bdclr.org/) as an awful piercing sound, if at all.

Please try OTRPlayer.  The name stands for Old Time Radio, and is intended to cover lower bitrates than the Sharp Media Player.  Be sure to also download madplay which it requires.
