Intellisync not working w/my 860
« on: May 15, 2004, 02:05:37 pm »
I\'ve spent countless hours trying to get Intellisync to transfer data from Outlook XP to my new 860, to no avail.  Also have spent hours searching the FAQ and the Forums, also with no solution.

I am able to transfer files via Samba from my XP computer (all using the USB cable) so the network connection I know is functioning.  But when I try to use Intellisync, it sometimes gives me the error \"Communication was Aborted\" in PC Link on the Z.  I\'ve tried USB I/O and USB TCP/IP, have changed the TCP/IP properties for the network devices back and forth from static IP to DHCP (samba works under DHCP), disabled firewall and Norton, etc.

Also - I\'ve seen several references to \"Zaurus Manager\" software.   What is that, do I need it, and where do I get it?  I just have Intellisync installed.

Can anyone help?  This is quite frustrating.

Replying to my own post here - I discovered the problem - I had downloaded the \"5600\" CD from the Sharp website, and the version of Intellisync on it didn\'t have Zaurus Manager, nor would it allow me to select another connection besides Serial.  I downloaded the 5500 CD w/5600 updates from the ZUG downloads pages, and voila, now I have Zaurus Manager and am syncing (somewhat).  I can get email and addresses to sync, but for some reason not Calendar.  It stops when trying to download Calender info from Outlook, but otherwise works.

Nice to know the problem is fixed.
I run a SL-860 (Sharp ROM, also for now) via USB on TCP/IP to Windows XP Pro.
So far I have not have a problem to sync the calander with Outlook (Outlook 2000 V9.0.0.2711), however I am not syncing my e-mails as I use Outlook only to bridge the calander to ACT.
I can also sync the calander to Palm Desktop 4.1.

Well, the problem of actually making a connection is fixed.  However, I\'m not able to download Outlook Calendar to the Zaurus - I keep getting an error message, \"Unable to Complete Request\" right after the \"comparing records\" screen.  Anyone know a fix?

I\'d like to be able to d/l from Outlook, then transfer into Ko/Pi.  Ko/Pi doesn\'t seem to like the *.vcs file that I created from Outlook, so the best way to \"sync\" seems to be into Ko/Pi via Zaurus Calendar.

Quite frustrated...

I\'m running XP-PRO and Office 2003, and have had no problems.  Using the 5600 apps and drivers from the 860.  Only thing I don\'t synch is mail, but all others come across perfectly.  Using TCP/IP and initiating the synch from the 8600.  Hope this helps !
