can\'t get smc card to work with sl 5500 rom 2.38

Hello,

Can any one point me to the process of adding a wireless card,
what to check in config files? is there a driver?

the informaiton that I found said it should work out of the box well
it sometimes recognizes the card but the led is always on

and most of the time the card is not mounted at all

can any one help??

What model SMC card do you have?  I had no problem geting mine to work on a 5500.  
you should just be able to go into the network setings and set up a new network connection with an SSID of any and dhcp assigned IP address.  The default config of most wireless access points should alow you to connect at that point.

when i put the card in some times it is not recognized,
the led is allways on and kismet which is supposed to recognize some networks (sniff them will not work)

also ifconfig will now show anything but
lo and usbd0

any suggestions??
