Some progress on logo-less kernel. Turning off the logo was easy. However I must be totaly stupid, but I cant get boot messages to appear  Yes I did change the "console=" parameter, I've tried different options with no luck...
# CONFIG_SHARPSL_BOOTLDR_PARAMS is not set

Otherwise the angel bootloader overwrites your manually set command line arguments.
Thanks, I'm gonna give it a try as soon as I get back form my vacation.

Any ideas why ejecting (using the applet) a Bluemonkey (LSE039/12 R2B) hangs an SL-C860 with Hotfix B ?

BTW: The following are true...

Suspend/Resume does seem to eject/reinsert the card, I get the applet messages without a hang.

cardctl eject 0 hangs the unit as predictably as selecting the card for ejection from the card manager applet.

Can't say I tried it without the hotfix but I can say I had the same problems with the Bluez Rev E drivers on zaurususergroup using the stock ROM. I fixed it on those by downloading the Rev D drivers from the community website.

Tried downgrading the bluecard_cs.o file from the archive that worked on the stock ROM, made no difference so I reverted back. Any ideas ?

Regards,

Andy

OK, well finally 'fixed' my hanging Bluemonkey card (cardctl eject 0 caused freeze) by installing the older bluez_zaurus_2.3.2.4.18d_arm.ipk that worked on the Stock ROM (from the community.zaurus.com site).

Don't know what the diffs are between thie version and the Cacko 1.21b embedded version but it seems to have broken this card (LSE039/12 R2B).

Oh, but with all this messing around forgot to say GOOD JOB ON THE ROM - Very nice !

ACTUALLY DON'T TRY INSTALLING THIS PREVIOUS REV DRIVER. only worked until reboot.

Ah well back to NAND restore (of SHARP ROM) - can't waste any more time on this now.

There are always some little differences between bluetooth cards. Not having all of them to test, I cannot garantee all of the supported cards will work without problems...

Yep, I know and it's really tricky because the vendors are always making slight mods to these cards.

I would like to take a look at the Bluez source, did you include it in the Kernel tarball ?

I could do some comparison between that and the Rev D. driver that you built on the community.sourceforge.net site which did work perfectly with the Stock ROM.

Ah, the tarball only includes the patches.

Could you say what base Bluez package you used ?, you only seem to get the hci bits in the Sharp Kernel tarball.

Or is there a full source snapshot tarball for Cacko kernel with patches applied ? that WOULD be great !

We can't seem to get a reply in a seperate thread, so will post here:

I have updated to Cacko 121b ROM, and my AmbiCom CF modem has quit working. I get the error message "CF card typeserial device is busy" when trying to connect to dialup account.

This was posted by another user. I have the same card and the same problem. Any suggestions on how to make this modem work?

I think that I have everything else working as well as before the install. 1.21b is a great piece of work and definitely makes my 860 more useful. Thanks.

I think I've posted this link before somewhere in this forum, but anyway:

Sorry, I can't keep track of all topis...

Actually this is a tarball of just the patches and since we don't know what base of Bluez source it should be applied to it's pretty tricky (did you know that the community.zaurus.com site only has source up to rev A but IPKs to to rev D ?).

I can understand that you may not want your feed swamped by lazy people pulling down the complete kernel tree rather than acquiring patches so if you don't want to host a tarball of the patched tree could you please give us some idea where the base sources can be obtained that this patch set works with ?

I have linux-c860-20031107-rom1_10.tar.bz2 from the SHARP site, I presume that's one of the bases.

I also have bluez-zaurus_2.3-2.4.18a_src.tar.gz which contains a kernel patch set that gives a few .rej files when applied so it looks like there's something missing.

Any hints would reaaally be useful.

BTW: Sorry if this sounds like a nag, I think you are doing really great work here and I would like to help if I can (and when I can).

Sorry, Maslovsky

Didn't spot the .apply_in_this_order file hidden in the patches directory.

This does patch against the stock Kernel source form the SHARP site.

Will do some digging when I get some time now.

Andy

Thanks. Not complaining. That worked. I did the cardctl and then it dialed, connected, etc. As a interim solution, I will try and create a script with an icon in my applications folder. If there is a way to fix it with serial.opts or similar, please let me know.  After reading some previous posts, I tried various cardctl commands, but not that one. Thanks.

OK, here's where I am with getting my rev of Bluemonkey card fixed.

I have found that if I take the binary module 'bluez.o' from http://community.zaurus.com/download.php/5...2.4.18d_arm.ipk, rename the symlink on the Cacko ROM, rmmod the existing bluez driver, copy in the aforesaid driver, depmod -a then plug the card everything works well - I can eject the card without any of the lockups mentioned whatsoever and it seems pretty bullet proof.

Unfortunately the bluez.o from this version doesn't seem to initialize something particularly well so following a reboot if I insert the card I get a 0 MAC address on hciconfig . - maybe something isn't getting called to initialize the card here... hmmm.

Sooo, it would seem that an examination of the Bluez source - probably hci_core from the community site and the source of the Cacko ROM would probably let me nail this.

I have the Cacko Kernel tree all patched up and ready to go.

Can't locate the source for the Rev D. driver on the community site though. There seems to be only Rev A source on this site.

Any ideas where I may obtain the source/patch sets for this rev ?

I'm hazarding a wild guess that Rev. D on the community site is based on patch-2.4.18-mh10. Whereas Cacko is patch-2.4.18-mh11, is this correct ?
