Sync with Mac OS X 10.2.7
« on: December 03, 2003, 01:02:02 am »
I flashed the OZ 3.3.5 rom today and was able to Sync contacts and datebook within 10 mins. Using Qtopia Desktop 1.7.0

I had to only make a change to the pcmcia config file to cope with my zonet cf lan card and it workd fine.

I am a happy man after so long and so many attempts.

Go Oz

regards

Kyle

I just flashed to OZ 3.3.5 and tried Qtopia Desktop using my Netgear MA701 CF WiFi and it works great.  Much better than the previous OZ and 10.2.  I\'m quite impressed with the new OZ.  We need to spread the word to other Mac users, Kyle!

Hum.. just got my C860 today and haven\'t yet explored the Sharp ROM that came with it.

I would like to sync with my Mac running 10.3

So maybe I should try OZ 3.3.5?  (OZ = OpenZaurus right?  I\'m new to Zaurus).

Thanks,

-matt

You should be able to sync with Address Book using this: http://maczsync.sourceforge.net/ (although I haven\'t tried it since the Panther upgrade yet)

zCal will synchronise iCal. However if you install KOrganizer on your Zaurus you can just export a calendar from iCal and copy the .ics file to ~/Applications/korganizer and rename it mycalendar.ics.

Hope that helps!

ZaurusMacSync seems to have some issues for me. I\'m on an 800Mhz. G4 eMac, and can\'t get the app to open (versio 0.8). I\'m trying a recompile on my own, so we\'ll see what happens. I\'ll post results

Same as above. Qtopia Desktop is working, though. The only thing is that I want iCal, AddressBook etc to be my main PIM applications on OS X. Anyone know of an effective/useful sync method for those? I found a python-based system. Doesn\'t work, and it\'s command-line.

I\'ll keep digging.

As I just posted in another thread, until (if ever) Apple decides to release some developer\'s info for iSync, our chances of having any decent sync solution are slim.

Well, we know that we can FTP to 4242 for OZ and Sharp 2.x ROMS, and can connect via SMB to the 3.x Sharp ROM. iCal uses standard file formats, AddressBook as an API that does have documentation. We should be able to build our own.

So off I go!

I think that ZaurusMacSync needs to moved onto your hard drive before you can run it.

I couldn\'t get ZaurusMacSync to run when I first downloaded it and tried running it from the dmg (drive image file) that it came on. It launched with no problem once I moved it to the hard drive. Maybe it needs to be on a writable volume.

I\'ve got a Zaurus SL-5500 with the OZ 3.3.5 ROM and Opie 1.0.2 connected via USB cradle to my 10.2.8 G4 Mac.  I\'ve installed the USB driver for the Mac.  I can ping the Z from a terminal.  Heck, I can use Fugu to transfer files between my Z and Mac, but Qtopia Desktop 1.7 will NOT connect to my Z.  Anyone have any suggestions?

I\'ve got a c860 running OZ3.3.6pre1 which I installed with no problems.  I can sync with my OS X 10.3 TiBook using both Qtopia Desktop and zCal + Zaurus Mac Sync.

None of the syncing solutions is very good though - Zaurus Mac Sync is very unreliable, and I don\'t want to replace Mail and iCal as my OS X PIMs so Qtopia Desktop is not for me.

Just hoping some Cocoa developer out there is working on a better solution.
