Happy to inform you that Sash i alive and kicking - and already fixing bugs
Glad to hear it!
Now the question is do I learn how to compile a application so I can get my hands on the RC1?    Sometimes it blows being a super-user and not a programmer!

Cheers,

Why do you make the developing modell so closed? I haven't submitted an ipk to the unstable feed, but I could use and test the new dev. version.
Please release it free to everyone (or I have to submit my crappy crosscompiled xkbd ipk to the unstable feed, and that's good for no one. )

Zumi: You've to come up with something new  xkbd is already compiled  ..

Nevertheless, I also think, the pdaXrom should not be that "closed".
I think it would improve _much_ faster, if it would be a more "community" project.
It's not easy to define a "community" project , but I think of GNOME and KDE.

pdaXrom should have a CVS server, with the latest development versions, _everybody_ should be able to download the CVS version (the ones, not daring to compile on their own don't have to).
The whole project should be more developed by the community (i know, it's easy to say, but hard to realize, because a big part of the community isn't able _or/and_ doesn't want to develop).

The bugfixing shouldn't exclusively be done by the pdaXrom developers. Everybody should be able to _easily_ commit bugfixes.

I agree - and we might also set that up as soon we get a new server and stuff for hosting/developing - but right now we are just trying to build a stable "foundation" for the end users. Yes its Linux and we do share the source - but at the moment we don't want to spend all the developer time on helping others develop. We would prefer to have the source good and documented and have good compiling instructions available.

So please have patience and consider the pdaXrom as a work in progress and your are very welcome to try and help - but in order for us to make real progress we don't have to much time to help people compile and stuff. Actually at the moment we run the project like this:

Laze (that's me) keeps track of all the bug reports/problems/forum posts etc. - test them, look into them and do most of the external "contact" with the end users - and i then pass the problems onto the developers. I also programmed many of the new and upcomming prefs/settings tools. All together we decide what the gui should look like and what's needed to make it a killer ROM - of course with input from you the guys..

I want the new version. I'm eager to use it!
I check the site and the forum 5 times a day, but everything is quiet, too quiet.

I need some updated progress report, or (I prefer this) a release.

Drumroll - we expect to have a RC1 of the 1.1.0 version out tomorrow (monday evening CET) to all the developers - when they have tested it we will begin the final process of making it ready for end users.

I was a really-really impatient guy and searched for it 'till I found it.

[but I don't tell where it was..., sorry ]

Nomen est omen ('the name says it all'), the stuff really sucks on my SL-C700, it locks up at some commands on console and locks up everytime I try to start anything in X.
Tried to add some swap file but it locks up when I want to create it.
I hope this is not the release candidate...

EDIT: I edited the post to save your souls from downloading it and to save the dev. pdaxrom server from crashing.

First accept my applogies for not releasing the RC1 monday - but we ran into unseen problems (again) :-) But we expect to have something ready today.

Zumi... GREAT!!! Nice one.. Thanks alot - there is a reason why there was no release monday. The file should not be downloaded.. Please don't and the host isn't meant to be used at the moment. Please don't..

We will release the RC1 today and Zumi won't be getting any ;-) (okay maybe)

Btw. We have updated the progress report - read more on http://www.pdaxrom.org

I think my post was a warning to everyone. And for me: I was happy that I saw the new design and was able to play with it a bit.
So, I hope it wasn't a problem for you. (And hey, you don't have to worry about the "image" of the project, we know you're working great; just feed us with news and releases and we will be happy )

We have been working all night now are we are still having some problems/bugs - so we are sad to announce yet another delay before release. But more and more bugs are being fixed and new features are added very rapidly.

Once again we are sorry for this delay but we don't wan't to release something that makes to many problems for users (better destroy our own Zauriis instead of yours :-)
