Battery replacement on SL-5500

Just a silly question, but if you have programs on your 5500 ramdisk (internal RAM) and change the battery, won't you lose all the information? (when you take out the old battery and put in a new one, there would be no power to the unit)

Acording to the manual (or was it the quick start guide) the 5500 has a builtin backup battery. So your data/programs etc should be fine.

But like all batteries, the internal one would also have a finite lifecycle. Does anyone know if this one can also be replaced?

If not, then supposedly after a certain time, you would not be able to replace the battery on the unit, without losing all the data in the RAM?

From my electronics knowledge (not Zaurus knowledge - since I have none - I am a complete newbie here) the 'builtin backup battery' is actually a special type of capacitor. It acts as a backup battery for a period of time, long enough to change the regular battery - at least several minutes, probably well over an hour. It is only sustaining CMOS type components that require very, very small amounts of current. Because it is not really a battery it doesn't need to be replaced - at least not anytime this century:)

Someone correct me if you know that the SL-5x00 does use an actual battery rather than a cap.
