Abiword on SL5500
« on: July 09, 2004, 05:59:25 am »
Hello all together,

i have installed X/QT as said in many other threads on ZUG. I just wanted to play a little bit and so i decided to test abiword. I downloaded the x11apps.tar from zug-download section!
As said in other threads there is a lack of libs (gtk+-2.0, glib-2.0, gdk.. etc.) for the armv4 architecture.
I found the missing libraries after some googling ;-)

1. download the missing libraries from familiar.handhelds.org
http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/fee...ackages/armv4l/

2. you will need freetype libs which are available from the qpdf2-freetype package!

After all that installing stuff i started abiword and it exits with "SIGILL"
I tried to strace the output but there are no hints what is wrong?

Anyone has an idea what is wrong????

Bye Bedman

PS.: Sorry for the bad english, because of i'm from germany

Probably compiled for a different processor type - XScale rather than StrongARM.

Also note that the latest familiar packages are linked against libc2.3 (I don't know which ROM you're running but I assume it's on a 5500 or 5000D)

I'm running OZ 3.3.6pre1 with Opie 1.1.4!
I don't know which libc version i've installed?? But i will check this later.
How can i test if binaries are compiled against a XScale oder Strongarm?

3.3.6pre1 is linked against 2.3 so you're fine on that count.

I'm not sure how to test for the particular ARM dialect.

Try ldd or similar I suppose.

Si

P.S. It says it comes from arm4 which should mean StrongARM so perhaps I'm wrong about this (XScale is arm5).

What say's that it is coming from arm4? The Abiword binary? Perhaps some of the libs are linked against falls libc versions??
It would be great to make something like the pdaXrom on the SL5500! But there are no good applications to test it :-(

Thx
