$600 for the base model, $900+ with all the extras built-in.  Doesn't seem to support any kind of wireless connectivity.

On the plus side, I've been waiting for more devices with week to month long battery life.

I wouldn't assume that it is scam - it is too professional in web site design and the marketing story is too much based on innovative technology. A real scam would not spend so much money on those aspects.

I rather suspect that a small group of enthusiasts somehow got venture capital (something like the IBM Fellows who got a budget and were allowed to e.g. develop an IBM PC) and was able to complete the project (5 years ago I had the opportunity to evaluate an investment/partnership into such a project). I can really imagine a great engineering team supported by a marketing consultant, now sitting there and waiting for orders - which won't come as (fast) expected.

There are a lot of interesting ideas in and I hope that they do not fall into the same trap as Apple did with the (first) Newton - having great technology but the market was not at all ripe for it. Market development for new technologies costs more money than developing a product.

I have sent them the question whether it runs Linux...

Well, a single AA and a GByte Flash is not compatible at all...

But on weeks of Battery: My HP15C calculator is now 18 years old and I have replaced the batteries only once or twice (I don't even remember when).

The Newton did also have several weeks of standby - and approx. 24h of operation (was at least written in some FAQ I have googled: http://newted.dyndns.org/soupbox/batteryfa...x.html#Anchor-8 ).

It is all a matter of using CMOS and low clock frequency - and the single AA might be a LiION with 2.5Ah - but they don't tell.

I think out of two of them, I would take the oqo.  The jackito seems too propietary and less flexible.  The oqo claims 800x600 transflective!  They are all vapourware to me until regular shipments start.
