Gps and Software
« on: July 21, 2004, 11:55:26 pm »
I got an Ambicom GPS CF card and it works great, however.... I am looking for a peice of software for geocaching (www.geocaching.com).  I have found a bunch of Map software, and tracklog stuff, but nothing that will let me import my destination coordinates and point me in the direction and show me how far to go..  Something similar to:www.cetusgps.dk/ is what I am looking for..

Anyone know of anything like that??

Thanks

nadina

I don't have an answer for you, but I do have a couple of questions.

I have been looking at this card, but was wondering how well it worked with the Zaurus.  I have the SL5600.  According to the Sharp website:

The AmbiCom GPS Navigation Receiver CompactFlash Card is the Global Positioning System Receiver for your mobile device and the perfect accessory to your Zaurus. The GPS Navigation Receiver comes with a full feature 30-day trial version software that is loaded with fantastic features such as dynamic voice navigation, off-route warning, and detailed street maps. Now you can turn your Zaurus into a true GPS navigation system and never worry about getting lost!

Does it really do all this?  I have the Alpine PowerNav in my car and I was looking for something similiar for my Zaurus.  And if it does work, how much is it after the 30 day trial period is up?

Thanks,

Nadina

The card does come with that software, unfortunately, it only works on Pocket PC...  I have no clue how much it is.. Looks cool, I might have to dust off my Pocket PC...
