I gathered they were a bunch of tosspots (can I say that? If not I'll edit it   ) when I was told to rebuy all my tkc apps when moving from a 5500 to 860 - they seem to not care very much at all about their customers, in the past I'd emailed them and received the kind of replies you should not get from a professional company. Subtle rudeness. I think a lot of us have "walked with our feet" and given them the Royal Birdie by what I've read here before from other users.

Or you can help raise Five fricking grand to be told that you have 'hacked' your Zaurus by installing anything other than tkc Programs and get a wonderful lack of support........

X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 6.0.3.0

If you honestly want to see continued  development and an update, then we would need to have $5,000 raised to  finance the development and support of it.  We would be more than happy to
then pick it up and give it a priority.

And we wonder why proto disappeared?????????????

Well, my earlier sentiments still stand.

I don't know much about US companies but it's odd that the "President" of a company answers every email, usually with his foot in his mouth.

I wonder if it's just a front for some programmers?

The more I read and hear, the more I am convinced that theKompany really does not deserve the patronage of it's customers. This is just my opinion of course, but a company like that deserves to fold.

I totally agree. TKC is not a 'big' company at all as it may have appeared in the past. It is a set of programmers as you have stated trying to conduct commerce and rip people off.

So what's wrong with a group of programmers getting together to start a business? If you are happier with the products of large corporations, there is one in Redmond, Washington that you might want to check out.

I've never used a TKC product so I can't comment on them, but I did have a question once and Shawn answered me right away. I think that getting a response from the boss of the company is great, better than dealing with some underling who has no idea what is going on.

I would like to see TKC develop their ROM further. I know a lot of people like the current version so it obviously has a lot of potential. Someone in their group of programmers should have picked up development when this Proto guy pegged it out of there.

Having an up to date ROM would certainly enhance the popularity of the TKC apps as well. If they only support them on Sharp or TKC ROMs it's a very limited market they have left to sell to.

I agree with you dh, there is nothing wrong with a group of programmers coming together behind the facade of a company to sell their programs, tkcVideo and tkcPlayer were very good on the 5500. But unless you've had a negative experience like we've had with them, you won't know what we mean (if you know what I mean   ).  But when the 'president' of the company writes with his foot in his mouth over and over, you can't help wondering if something is afoot and it's a big turnoff when thinking about buying more. Anyway, wanting five thousand spondoolies to support their own stuff is reprehensible, as is demanding re-purchases to use the apps you've already bought on a new machine. Not too dissimilar to the practices and ethics of that Redmond based company you mentioned. I think it's a shame as the Z needs companies like them, but also needs support and some ethics beyond mere money grabbing.

I'm with you on this point heretic (padishah) - I wrote this little thing last August, because I was ticked about Shawn's obvious lack of customer service on the issue.  There were quite a few heated posts on the devnet about this too.

I'm just resolved with never purchasing or supporting tkc again.

Unless TKC supports their apps on Cacko or the other ROMs, I probably will not buy anything from them either.
I would have thought it was in Shawn's interest to look after his customers (it's a really close community afterall) and support the active ROMs.
Maybe his business has just moved on from the Zaurus and it's not part of his business plan anymore?

BTW - I'm not sure of the semantics but according to Proto the TKC rom is his and not that of the Kompany, therefore I don't think they could have 'picked' up where he left off. He did get somethings from them such as the look and feel UI and graphics stuff but the development was solely his with some help from contributors. According to Proto, he did not re-invent the wheel, and used work that was already developed. I remembered a big dispute with him and Sash sometime back about the build script. Nevertheless, I would like to see him continue the work on the ROM, but with the flaming he has endured at times, I'm not sure he has a bruning desire anymore.

Proto - Where r u man?

Last we heard from Proto, he had a "Real Job".  I also suspect he realized what a scam theKompany really is and just gave up.

As far as theKompany picking up the ROM to finish, give me a friggin' break!  I bought Mail, Address, Calendat, ToDo, and three more that have never had the features they advertised, and they weaseled out of real support issues over and over.  They claimed IMAP for Mail was "coming soon", and it took them 2 years, and it is still broken, though they deny it!

They are incompetent to produce anything but simple game programs.
A ROM??????  WTF are you smoking?
