VPN/Minicom issues
« on: July 28, 2004, 06:47:55 pm »
I've been trying to get the VPN software from killefiz.de to work on my 6000.  There seem to be two VPN packages available, neither with extensive documentation as to what it should do.  OpenVPN downloads into a tar file that the installer doesn't recognize - I've been puzzled by this before with other packages.  Is the 6000 somehow incompatible with ollder ipk files?

The installer recognizes the vpnc ipk, but fails on the extraction of some files (notably the vpnc executable).

Has anyone got either of these to work?

I'm also trying to get minicom to work, and it runs, but it interacts poorly with curses so the screen looks cruddy and then it seems to hang when I try to connect to the modem.  Anyone using this package?

On my SL-6000, i edited /etc/inittab and commented out:

s0:24:respawn:/sbin/getty 9600 ttyS0

I then start minicom using the following command line:

"/usr/local/bin/minicom -s -o -c on"

This is by now an alias in my .bashrc.

This allows me to poke into my serial consoles using the CE-170TS serial cable.

hope this helps,

p

Forgot to mention that the above works with the minicom package downloaded here:
