OpenEmbedded - Usable?
« on: August 09, 2004, 05:28:28 pm »
I've been working on setting up development on my Redhat 9 laptop and onboard development on the Zaurus.
The thought occured to me that maybe I should be channeling my efforts into OpenEmbedded.
Do the following work with OpenEmbedded?
Kismet
ssh
Kopi
wireless access with Netgear MA701
web browser
usb networking through cradle
midnight commander
Is it possible to do onboard development?

I don't mind a little pain, and I'm sure my other favorites will be available as OE picks up speed.  I just don't like the idea of not having a usable Z for my daily activites.
Thanks,

OpenEmbedded is a build system, not a distribution or ROM. See http://openembedded.org/oe_wiki/index.php/OzTODO3.5.1 for what's preventing a release of OpenZaurus 3.5.1.

It could take days or years to eliminate the showstoppers, so no time estimates would be sane at this time. No one seems interested in looking into the showstoppers anyway, so we might just as well release OpenZaurus 3.5.1 without Opie as GPE (X) only.
