Contacts not showing uo in addressbook
« on: August 10, 2004, 09:40:22 pm »
I have a sl5600 running OX 3.3.6pre1. I finally got multisync 0.82 to sync with Evolution 1.4.5 on my Fedora desktop. I have 339 contacts in Evolution and when I sync the log says successfully synced 339. My problem is they do not show up in my addressbook when I open up my contact pim. When I open addressbook.xml in vi it looks like they are all in there but when I open contact pim only about a dozen show up. Anybody have any idea what's wrong?

Are you sure the xml file is in the right format?
You can try to validate it using XMLSpy or some other tool.

Well, its input directly from multisync, so I don't think it would be in any other format. There is not much I can do about the way Multisync imports and exports the data. I have deleted my xml files and did: touch Applications/addressbook/addressbook.xml just in case something got formatted wrong the first time, but same results. It has to be something else. Any other ideas?

why dont you try KA/Pi? its by far the most complete contact manager in the Z and it is part of an integrated PiM environment good enough to wet our pants

check: http://www.pi-sync.net and http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdepimpi/

When I tried importing contacts from my cellphone using IrDA, I had a similar experience. The transfer was successful but only one entry showed up in addressbook; the rest were ignored. I did not pursue it but maybe there's a common cause...

steliosx, will I be able to sync evolution on my linux desktop with ka/pi on my Zaurus. I took a quick look at your link and it sounded like I needed korganizer and Kaddress on my desktop. Are you familiar with this setup? If you say it can be done I will look into it more.
Thanks

I copied my addressbook.xml to my linux desktop and looked at the contact info immedietly after the last contact that loads and did find a character that does not belong there. After I removed it and copied back to my Z, my contacts loaded. I haven't checked to see if they are all there yet but it looks like most of them are. I am going to go over the entire xml file first, and then re-check. Thanks alot for the tips!

Also, I am still wondering if anyone has used Ka/Pi to sync evolution with Zaurus on a linux desktop?
