Now, the RC2 setup menu doesn't give you the option to repartition the flash
I went to the menu "nand flash tools" or whatever it was called and resized my 860 to 121Mb.

I've only been playing with rc2 for some minutes now but it's looking great, and I haven't found any bugs yet.

THANKS!

So I got this to work on my 750. I think what it took was to reboot twice. The first boot into Xpda just hangs-- no login. But rebooting it got me a login.

I'm going to reflash as one big root (no user) and see if it will work.

120? on c750?  I dont think that's possible.. seeing how the c700/c750 has only 64MB of space..
I thought it really has 128, and that the original sharp roms just blocked 64megs for themselves. And  Xpda dosen't do that-- so you should be able to get one giant root partition for the whole ~128 megs. At least, that's how I've read things.

I could be wrong though.
No, the specs for the devices are precisely correct. C750 has 64Mb of flash -- no more, no less. You can divide that space into two partitions (that's the default), or use Ashley's installer to create one big partition instead.

I've noticed that Fn+<number> gives us a number character in 1.1.0rc2, not a special keycode as in 1.0.5. (I was using it for brightness control through xkeymouse) Is it a bug or a feature?

Thanks pdaXrom team for you work !! it worked like a charm !! I got it installed with no hiss

I got two rather lame questions and one possible bug:

1) When you reformat Flash ... I put 50 (megs I assume) ... but then others put 40 or even 120 ... What does THIS do ? I assumed that with this action you where creating two memory partitions: one of, say, 50 megs (if you placed a 50) for the pdaXrom itself and the REST for the /root or wherever Linux store the installed software. IS this correct ?

2) I was using pdaXrom 1.0.5 ... Now with Kathrin I "feel" like the whole thing is working at 50% speed: Windows move slower when dragged, I can see the different interface while it draws itself (I can see the interface drawing when I open any application), etc. Is it just me ? Right now I am taking away all backdrops and leaving single colors in all the "look and feel" config. I wonder: Is there any RAM or interface speed penalty by using backdrops in matchbox (I think there are) ?

3) I have a TRENDnet Compactflash Fast Ethernet Adapter TE-CF100 ... it works under sharp rom, under cacko rom, with my SL5500, with my C860... actually it worked in every rom I tested, right away. Under Kathrin it just says the same as pdaXrom 1.0.5: "Unsupported Card" ... that is it ?

If anyone can give some ideas / answers, please shoot

Enrique.

sigmaX: Check out this thread, that's how I got my Hawking CF LAN card working in pdaXrom.

I am having another problem of my own though...

I set my power settings to 0.0 for "screen off after..." for battery and AC power.  I was listening to oggs with xmms in the car on the way home, and after about 10 minutes my Z suspended.  I hit the power button, it came back on, started playing for about a minute, then turned back off again.

I really want to make it so the Z never goes into suspend mode unless I manually press the power button.

The following two initial steps allowed me to install smoothly with one large partition on my C860 (presumably Ashley's work incorporated).  I went first to the NAND flash utilities and ran the options to:

     -   Fix the Sharp 64 MB limit

     -   Resize root partition to 121 MB

After that, you reboot and do the usual to flash the new ROM. BTW "reboot" in flashing instructions seems to always mean pulling the battery, etc, for steps before the new ROM is installed, not a warm boot using the menu reboot option as you might think.

As for RC2 -- Excellent work! A few things (like the package manager) don't seem quite finished yet, but the features that are there are working and stable so far.  The one big thing I'm still hoping for in a future version is apt-get, so I can spend more time running apps and less tinkering with install and config glitches.

I'm off to PayPal to make a well-earned contribution.

Looks like pdaXrom is almost ready for prime-time    Great default eye candy, look & feel much easier to modify.

Didn't see the following issues on the bug list, so not sure if they are only user-stupidity or true bugs:

In aterm and abiword, the right shift doesn't work (haven't tested it in any other apps)

In past versions I've been able to modify the ipkg.config to point to a feed on my CF. I tried both manually and using the Pakage Meneger to configure a new feed, I get this error
Code: [Select]
/mnt/cf/feed/Packages: Unsupported scheme.ipgk_download: ERROR: Failed to retrieve /mnt/cf/feed/Packages, returning to ipkg_update: ERROR downloading /mnt/cf/feed/Packages to /usr/lib/ipkg/lists/feed1
I know the Packages file and ipks are the right scheme as I used wget to get them from the feed2 directory on pdaXrom.org.

In the previous versions I had similar problems which were solved by creating the /usr/lib/ipkg/list directory. This time it was already there. Anybody able to get a local feed working?

Again, great work Sash and team. THANKS!

GAIM:

Gaim 0.8  didnt work for me with MSN ... whenever I tried to send a message it just dissapeared .... anyway ICQ worked flawlessly. Uninstalled it and installed 0.77 and it worked like a charm.

interesting....

I have noted down all the "ideas"  and bugfixes :-)

And now a IMPORTANT message - if you need to add something to somewhere in order to get your BLAH-BLAH card working - please post what you added and where you added it. That way we can included it in the next release and make the pdaXrom more userfriendly for those who don't know how to do it..

There is a RC2 feed available at http://www.pdaxrom.org/feed2/

Hmm, does this mean that the IPKs in the standard feed are not compatible with 1.1.0?
And what about the SDK? Can we compile stuff to 1.1.0 with the 1.0.5 SDK?

I know you're busy with just getting the 1.1.0 released properly, but I have a reason to ask.
My key application is KoPI. If there's no recent kopi ipk available, I'd need to roll my own.
And if that's not possible due to lack of SDK, no pdaxrom for me.
