X11 XMMS doesn\'t open MP3 files
« on: December 13, 2003, 02:51:34 pm »
Subj. It can open them as playlists (showing gibberish, of course), but not as MP3 files. It doesn\'t open dirs, either. My X11 ROM version is 0418081203.

Odd, do you have the MAD (MPEG Audio Decoder I think it means) lib installed? If not you can download it here:

that should do the trick... I have them installed and xmms is working fine here. plays mp3s just fine, and I can add directories into the playlist, and it shows correctly.

I wish that some nice person would compile XMMS\'s mpg123 plugin for the Zaurus so I can enter shoutcast streams into the playlist etc. (I\'m trying to be as subtle as possible here )

Petition for an sl5500 rom and I\'ll get on the job :-). Seriously though, assuming that the X11 ROM uses libc v2.3 you could just do it yourself on the skiffcluster. Native ARM compile, etc.

See handhelds.org and search for skiffcluster.

i doubt  we\'ll be seeing a 5500 rom. Mostly just because well, it would probably suck on a 5500. Trust me. Also, we do not use libc 2.3. sorry.

Okay well that blows using the skiffcluster out of the water, but at least your apps will run on my 5500. I\'ll see what they look like on my small screen. Perhaps you should start a separate thread where people can request stuff to be cross-compiled, I can help with this.
