opieplayer2 not found on sl-5500
« on: August 26, 2004, 09:34:13 pm »
Whenever I try to start opie mediaplayer 2 I get an error message stating that "opieplayer2 cannot be found." When I look in the .../bin directory I see files for my other apps but not the mediaplayer. Has anyone else had this problem? Whats going on here? I installed the ipk from the opie 1.0.3 feed. I am running oz 3.3.5 on an SL-5500.

'ipkg-link add opie-mediaplayer2' ???

Where did you install it - try the above if you installed it to anyhting but root. You may have to do the same for the libs it uses (or just do 'ipkg-link mount /mnt/cf' etc.)

Ok I got the app to install and startup but now it will not play mp3s. I installed all the codecs, and when I press play the skin pops up and it plays for less than a second before moving on to the next track in my playlist. I found other posts on this site about mp3s playing too fast and they were told to edit the opiexine.cf file. I tried this and still no luck. Im starting to run out of ideas. What do you think.

What did you do to make it find the app?

If you had to re-link, then perhaps the libs aren't linked correctly.

Run the app from the command line and post the output messages so we can get some idea of what's going wrong.

BTW editing the opiexine.cf file does stop the files from playing too fast (at least on my C750 anyway), but this is not your problem.

I was able to get the app to install properly by using the oz feed instead of the opie feed. Anyway here is the output you requested:

So what does that mean? Do I have the wrong audio decoder?

I'd guess so, though I'm not quite sure whether that means that a lib can't be found or that your mp3 is in a funny format.

Can you post a link to the mp3 (so I can test it)?

Otherwise I'm not sure how to help, other than for you to double check that the libs are all in place and try a vanilla mp3 from somewhere.

Well I've done some research, and it appears that the problem is with libxine1 on oz 3.3.5. It never actually produced any sound, and the problem was not fixed until oz 3.3.6. So I have downgraded to opie player 1, since I cannot upgrade to oz 3.3.6 as my ninendo emulator is incompatible with gcc3, and that is more important than opieplayer2. Thank you Lardman for all of your guidance and help.

You could try this package:  Its for the SHARP ROMs but seems to work on OZ (does on my 5500 anyway.  The package contains all the xine codecs and althouhg gives some errors (deinstall all the OZ codecs and ogg libs first) works.
