C860 - General Config Questions
« on: August 31, 2004, 04:56:35 pm »
Hi All.

I ordered my C860 yesterday from Pricejapan.com. (Woot!) I also ordered a Kingston 512MB SD card,  a CF ethernet and CF wireless card too.

I have some questions though.

I plan on running Apache/Php server and Mysql on it.  What ROM would you recommend?

I really would like to use it for basic PIM, and To do list. But most of the time I want to have email, web,  VNC and network utiilties running. (Hence the Ethernet card)

Thanks for the advice,

Talking about network utilities you should consider going for OpenZaurus: http://www.openzaurus.org/official/experim...860/3.3.6-pre1/

Ignore the experimental bit (it works fine). If you're willing to wait until Sept., there's a new dev release coming out (3.5.1).

PIM stuff works okay for what I want, but I'm not very demanding, others may disagree in this respect (the PIM choice, not the demanding bit ;-)).

I don't know much about email, but web works (opera) as does VNC, as do all of the network utilities out there.
