[span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']UPDATE 10/27/2004: Now just $74 (And free Shipping)  and no rebates[/span]

Looked at various reviews and looks like KINGMAX quality has gotten alot better lately.  Some complaints about quality issues seem to be older.

This is by far the cheapest 1GB card I have seen and not only that but it is  a 10MBits/sec card.

Click here to goto NewEgg page for KINGMAX 1GB for $$$$$

Additional Info:

Just found this post about speed (in a review)...I don't understand it as I thought most cards are 2MBits/Sec...so perhaps someone can shed light as to why the "write speed is (considered) terrible"

QUOTE:

"I just did a test with my iBook with UNIX "time cp" a large file

write speed is 6.6 Mbps
read speech is 180Mbps

It's even slower with my thinkpad. I've tried both a laptop PC card adapter and USB 2.0 port through a go.video pcp4040
and there is not much difference.

The read speed is excellent, but write speed is terrible. "

Mbps are Mega-bit per second, not Mega-Byte.

holy beep beep beep! that is so cheap... compared to my good pretec 40x 1 gig CF that i bought a few months ago.  write speed sucks though.
Gorgeous C860, 256 Sandisk SD, 1Gig Pretec 40x CF, PDAIR leather case & the really cool retractable iPDA USB sync/charge cable. Powered by PDAXROM BETA 1.

My wish - to have a Command & Conquer style game on my Z! (FREECNC!!!) Simcity 2000 would also be great.

Flash technology have always been like this: fast read slow write.
No need for power supply to maintain data and most cards can retain data for more than 10 years without loose.

I have a Kingmax 1GB SD card, but I think I somehow really screwed it up. I can't read it or format it on a windows 2k box using a dazzle 10-in-1. My C860 and 5500 won't recognize it - so I can't do a mkfs.msdos on it.

Any recovery ideas... or should I do an RMA?

Thanks.
