HOWTO: zports prboom and libSDL 1.2.6 on SL-C860

OK, FINALLY got it working in Zoomed mode.

Here's the problem.

When you run in zoomed mode to get the performance out of prboom and it just seems to quit it's actually trying to reconcile its default screen size of 320x200 against the zoomed 320x240 and for some reason it says that the screen is too small (from stderr out of prboom after init screen).

To fix simply edit ~/.prboom/prboom.cfg and change the screen size there to 320x240.

Works fine !

BTW: Doom1 (Ultimate Edition), Doom2 and Final Doom have been re-released in the UK for £9.95 as the Doom Collectors edition on CD. Don't know if this is available in other countries.

Everything except tnt.wad (from Final Doom) seems to work so far with the zports stuff.

Any way to use the stylus to aim? I'm still busy reconfiguring the controls, since they seem to be rotated, just like the screen, btw.
Weird: if you launch from an Icon instead of a terminal the orientation is fine, and you get the perfect zoom setting by default. Sometimes....

ev1l, Not sure why you may be getting problems here, what Z, ROM and version of liBSDL are you using here.

I use Cacko 1.21b on an SL-C860 with the 1.26 zports version of libSDL and it works great. The various patches to libSDL for Qtopia knocking around do the rotation stuff slightly differently. I think the zports libSDL generally has better model detection and gets the rotation right without tinkering (also translates the cursor keys to work in rotated modes), however, the version that cmisip puts out seems to be slightly faster but I guess may have some of the rotation issues.

BTW: As far as I'm aware you can't use the stylus. But you might want to check out the libSDL and prboom source to see if it implements stylus as a mouse... it is feasible.

The problem is caused by not using the "magnified" option (on a workspace shortcut).
I was launching prboom from a terminal.
When launching from a workspace shortcut (with fancy icon  ) it works just fine.
On my setup the stylus can be used to fire, and the screen actually turns when you touch it, but since there's no way to move the mouse without clicking, you can't use the stylus to look around without firing. It's really the only issue I have with it. In magnified mode it runs superbly in fullscreen, at full speed. Running it at full resolution is next to useless, since the textures are just as blurry as they were on the PC years ago  so it'll only net you smoother edges.
