OpenZaurus 3.5.1 released !!!
« Reply #30 on: September 20, 2004, 02:42:18 pm »
I just installed the 64+0 kernel on my 5500.  While exporing the new Opie, I picked Console 1 or 2 from the Opie terminal menu.  Poof!  I'm sitting on the console.  That's fine.  How do I go back to Opie now?

What version of Opie is actually used for this release?

The About under the O menu says Open Palmtop Integrated Enviroment V1.1.6

The background for the launcher says Opie 1.2

What Opie feed can we use with this?

http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/unstable/op...us/gcc3/SL5xxx/ Seems to be for Opie 1.1.4

http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/stable/openzaurus/ Seems to be for Opie 1.0

Another interesting problem I seem to have stumbled across, although I'm not sure its peculiar to OZ, but I haven't been able to duplicate the symptoms on the sharp roms.

Attempting to connect to a wireless AP using WEP produces less than desireable results: In the Network -> Start/Stop (wlan0) -> 802.11b tab The ESSID tab flashes with the name of the AP and a random string of characters, DHCP does not discover, and setting a manual IP does not work.

Turning WEP off on the AP and rebooting the Z does the trick, DHCP discovers, an IP is assigned and networking functions normally.

Is there a problem with WEP support in OZ? If not, have I done something wrong? I did notice that there is no option for choosing between 64bit and 128bit WEP key lengths.

I've tried the 64-0 image and it doesn't seem like anything gets stored on the SD card.  Am I missing something?

As for the package manager I've been using 'ipkg install name.ipk' at a command prompt to install everything.

Agosine: IIRC, nothing gets added to the SD card in an installation, you have to move various directories over yourself and simlink them in. I think the instructions are on the openzaurus.org web site.

I ran into the same problem.  I think I manage to wipe out everything that wasn't on the root directory of the CF card in the process.  Surely there's a way to add a local package repository?

I tried the old instructions to move directories over and it failed.  I'll try following them again.

Someone wrote a script for the TKC ROM that automated the moving of ~/home to an ext2  SD card.  Is there such a thing for the new OZ?  If not, how hard would it be to modify the TKC script (or write a new one from scratch)?

Good.  Thanks.

Now suppose I log out of the console?  Is there any way to switch then?

At the shell prompt

Code: [Select]
chvt 2; exit
takes you back to Opie and exits the login shell.

Try a reboot from the Settings->Shutdown app.

Are you using WEP or any kind of security on your Wireless network?
