I have just set up the OE environment and it seems it is working. (good job guys).

Do you know which package do I need to compile to have a PDF reader for oz-opie?

There's no pdf viewer for Opie in OE yet. We're waiting for someone to add a .oe file for qpdf2...

I have been trying to compile qpdf2 with oe toolchain but it i s difficult. qpdf2 is one of the ugliest source i've ever seen.. It requires the modification of some .h files from QT to ever compile.

I am not enough skilled in OE yet to build qpdf2 (my favorite pdf viewer). I dont know even if its possible to make those ugly hacks with oe.

The same here. I got it compiled after modificating some qpe and qte headers as mentioned in the readme file. But then I got SIGSEGV.
I also got the first version compiled and running, but that cant do nothing more than usual opie-qpdf.
Cheers,
Sam

Does qpdf just need to be recompiled and ipkg'd for OZ 3.5.1? It's the one reason I'm using Cacko still. OZ is amazingly fast but a PDF reader is a killer app.

You should be able to install a package which you're using on Cacko. You'll need to use the compat libs with it though, and will need to use -force-depends to ignore the qpe-base dependency.

I have qpdf2 installed on OZ/GPE and got all the libs it needed installed finally, but it barfed out on a undefined symbol. Is this the error that prevents it from running on OZ?

qpdf works with the compat-libs. but if you want to show a document, he crashs.

you have to starte a document first with the note-view. then, the viewer makes a xml-file an crashs again. but then you have this file and you can start the document in all viewmodes.

I don't suppose the status of this has changed, but if it has, please speak up.
Thanks

qpdf2 works fine for me with compat-lib on oz 3.5.1, zaurus 5600. a friend of mine has zaurus 5500 with oz 3.5.1 and also works fine.

Besides qpdf and qpdf2 being more or less dead, it's not only that. It is writing a .oe file for it to make it reproducable from source. (This is btw., the major difference between a "customized ROM" (aka a SharpROM clone) and a built-from-source ROM (aka pdaXrom and OZ)). And since qpdf2 is one hacky piece of code [with a sad history, which I might add] no one was motivated yet to add it [and its dependencies] to OE.

Wanna give it a shot?
