Builtin wireless cars and AP mode.

EDIT: Shoot, that was supposed to say wireless CARD, not wireless CARS.  

Has anyone found a way to put the builtin 802.11 card into AP mode?  It would be very nice to use the 6000L as a portable wifi hotspot.

I was thinking of using the hostap drivers for this, but they don't support usb adapters as of yet.  Even if they ever do support them, the driver probably won't compile easily for 2.4.18.  I have been playing around with hostap using a SMC wireless card I have lying around.  I haven't been able to get this working yet either, but I did compile the latest version of hostap that's supposed to work well with the older 2.4 kernels.  If anyone else is interested in this you can grab the ipkg I made for it at

The driver loads fine and recognizes my SMC card.  Let me know if you have any problems.

Upon further investigation, I can get the secondary card to work for a split second.  There is something that is causing the external card to be put into pcmcia suspend mode as soon as it's inserted.  Even if I issue a cardctl resume it just gets suspended again immediatly.  Does anyone know what is causing this behavior?

I figured it out.  Issuing the command, 'cardctl scheme qpewlan1' and then re-inserting the card caused it to stay active and not go into suspend immediatly after insertation.
