IRK and SL5600 (oe 3.5.1)
« on: October 05, 2004, 04:38:43 pm »
I love OE (can't go back to anything else). I am hoping to one day be able to use my IR keyboard.

On another thread I noticed that IRK is in the OE feeds, so I installed and rebooted my SL5600. I get a blank screen when Opie starts and the zaurus is locked up. When I rebooted, dropped into the console, uninstalled IRK and reboot again, it still locked up. I ended up reflashing.

Is it possible yet to use the IR keyboard with OE and a 5600?

This is where you can help out.

Can you ssh in while it's 'locked up', what information can you provide to track down the problem?

None of the OZ/OE core developers have a 5600 so they will be happy for your help.

Si

P.S. You probably shouldn't need to reboot (I presume you wanted to insert a kernel module - try using 'insmod'). This may help you in your quest.

When I tried installing IRK from the OZ feed, opie wouldn't run (after I rebooted); opie would just give a blank screen, showing something (the irk applet) was awry.

Uninstalling IRK(via a wireless ssh session) restored ! working opie.

the IRK from the feed  locks up my 5600.  I guess i can ssh into when OPIE locked up.  what do you want me to look at?

copy /etc/IRK.conf into $HOME/Settings/IRK.conf _before_ installing irk. It may work then.

It's hard to copy file before install it. Best way will be shutdown OPIE, install "irk" from console, copy file and then start OPIE.

irk from OZ 3.5.2 copy file on first start so installing from OPIE should work.
