firstly, thank you for whoever coded/compiled this for the zaurus - the wikipedia dictionary has won me countless arguments :-)

Would it be possible to make the scrolling apply to the definition rather than the word list? that way you could scroll down a definition without using the stylus or touchscreen. (and also with the jogdial in tablet mode).

Also, if there was more space for the definition or it could be shown in full screen without the word list - it would be much easier to read long definitions or wikipedia articles.

I know there is little chance any coders (i have no idea where to start) would feel like making these minmal changes to perfect zbedic, but maybe someone has some time on their hands - and i seem to remember the zbedic maintainer/coders frequented this forum.

Also, is there a chance of a version for the pdaxrom?

Thanks in advance....

This annoyed me too, so I made the changes and submitted a patch. You can find it at: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?f...673&atid=464154

Unfortunately none of the developers seems to be still involved in the project, so nobody can add the patch to the main distribution. At the moment, you have to patch the sources and recompile to have those changes working.

What I'd like is a larger unicode font so I can see it easier on my 6000 without having to use the magnified mode!

Gonna try and patch it myself but never really compiled on the zaurus before and I dont have a linux machine as my computer is being repaired. Any chance someone could send me a patched binary or an ipk?

Find attached to this post an 'ipk' with the patched zbedic. There is also one more addition to the patched version: it is now possible to switch layout of worlist and description boxes between horizontal and vertical. This should be useful for higher resolutions.

As wonderful as I think your patches will be, .9.1-1 can be installed in sd, while your version insists it must be installed in the main memory.

I will look into it.

BTW, once I saw guidelines what is required for an application to be installed on a CF or SD card. Could anybody give me a link to that HOWTO?

Thanks

I don't know where the howto is (I wish I did because I need it, too) but the usual reason for SD/CF installs failing is when the ipk tries to create symbolic links on them. The default file systems they use doesn't support symlinks and I know from personal experience that qmake/tmake likes to create dlls with multiple symlinks pointing to them.

If anyone knows anything else which breaks CF/SD installation or knows where the howto is, I'd be grateful to know too.

Symbolic links are not the reason for failure when installing zbedic on CS/SD. I've checked the IPK and there are not sym links. It must be something else. But since the discussion is going off topic, I will post my question on the QTopia development forum.

Since you're now kinda maintaining the zbedic, can we ask you for more features?

How about adding a Back/Forward navigation buttons?  I realised that it would be convinient when browseing dictionaries, which include hyperkinks, like wikipedia...

Thanks

Forward / backward navigaction might be easy to add using history list.  Please post your RFE on SorceForge project page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/bedic/
